    February Morn

"Come February morn have half your hay and half your corn"

I'm don't know the origin of that old saying but will bet it is a word to the wise. Kind of sobering this year.

It's certainly widespread - in Scotland it was always
said you should have "half your feed and a third of
your bedding" left on Feb 1st. That was pretty close
reflecting the fact that the feeding period extended
beyond the period cattle were housed in that climate.
I've seen that quote printed pre-1900.

Drove through your country Happytrails the other day. Holy smokes it is like winter out there. Feed pile looks good here but one can never be too cautious when it comes to reserves.
