    grasshoppers

Starting to see some grasshoppers around. It's almost like they live in little pockets. I have a fairly large patch of alphalfa by the shop and it is just loaded with them but none on the lawn or hardly anywhere else around the yard. Every morning I let the chickens out and they make a dash to the alphalfa patch. It is pretty comical watching them chase grasshoppers. They must be pretty successful as they pretty well turn their noses up at the chicken feed.
Now if we could just teach cows to catch grasshoppers...

Heard via the g****vine that somebody had an autopsy on an otherwise healthy cow found dead. Its rumen was filled with grasshoppers which they apparently not digest.

Boy the g****vine has been churning out some dandies lately, hasn't.
