    A great program

    http://georgemorris.org/GMC/Education.as
    px?lID=3

The CTEAM program is a great program for
farms wanting to advance their business.
I took the EDP program, but wish I had
covered some aspects of the CTEAM
    program such as succession, etc.

It is a great program to at least look
at as far as advancing your business
    management skill and contact network.

At close to $7,000 per module plus travel and accommodation, I'd say that its a rip-off.

You could probably get as much info on management and estate planning through Lakeland College for a lot less money and its only a twenty minute drive from your place.

wilagro - I agree it is expensive, but
the course and attendees are a lot
different than those that attend the
college in town. CTeam is interacting
      with established business owners, rather
than students and the focus is at a very
practical level. The only test you have
with the course is your own bottom line
      at home.
EDP taught me most of the things about
business that I didn't get from
University, it's just that CTEAM is more
      farm focused.
The program also qualifies for several
funding programs but I am not 100% sure
what they are called under the new Ag
      Policy Framework.

Also note, it is $7000 for the whole
        course, not $7000 per module.

Just curious, what's your ROI on the $7,000 investment. Thanks.

May I suggest that the ROI is whatever you decide it will be.

Business is not unlike life itself LOL. Create and altruistic goal, make steps toward that goal and then act as if your goal has already been accomplished.

If the steps towards SM's goal, or anyone else who is considering the Cteam program, then those are obviously good steps.

I would tend to agree personally that education is not always about money and time in a classroom, however, that is my personal perception which is about my reality and each of us has those things called perception.

            Sharing them is fun...Right wilagro...LOL

It scares me a bit but I agree with RK
              (LOL).
Education is a tricky one to assign a
ROI to. We all carry the things we
              learn (formally and informally) into
every aspect of every day. For myself,
operating 3 businesses that are quite
unique from each other the ROI has been
very high, but in different ways for
different ventures. Some of the HR
stuff has been more useful sometimes,
some of the financial and ag policy
              stuff has found uses, etc.
If I was to limit my ROI to our ranching
venture I would say the return is well
over 500%. Taking the time to assess
and develop our business has been huge,
but I am not sure exactly what
percentage of that change I could cost
              against the EDP program.
I think we often look at costs of
training (formal or informal) and think
it is too expensive, yet many of us will
readily purchase a $400,000 asset to use
in a multi-million dollar business. How
much is worth investing to better
understand that business, and where to
              invest are good questions.
I always figure investing in yourself is
a pretty good place to allocate some
              funds. Basically from a business
perspective I try to look at my greatest
weaknesses and then invest to shore up
              that area.
