George! Who would trust anything that came out of his mouth! This was the guy that very undemocratically pulled the rug out from well funded organizations whose members largely consisted of LAND OWNERS. The stockgrowers that stood alongside George in his quest to destroy the potential power these organizations held, well, you reap what you sow.

Someone from town met with Jack Hayden
regarding the bills and was told, "Now do you really
think we (the PCs) would do anything to jeapardize
the next election?"

Well frankly, Mr. Hayden.... duh!!! I think maybe
that would be a whopping Yes.

Perhaps the PCs are so fat and lazy, having been in
power for the last, what? 42 years, the do need to
be kicked out on their butts.

If the Land Stewardship Act were so good and
perfect, why the need for a bill to amend it and
clarify it?

It is not just the one bill that is setting precedent, it
is the combination of many - and like I've said
before ... nobody is even looking at the Animal
Health ACT (passed and proclaimed law) and the
Animal Health Amendment Act (passed but not yet
proclaimed) - and its a duzzi! Please give the bums
hell on my behalf boys and girls.

Now we have the PCs spending 370 million dollars
on a new communications system for emergency
responders because the USA says we aren't
prepared for a major terrorist attack yadda yadda.
Now maybe there are a few problems with the
present system, but aren't we (Alberta) in a major
deficit again, and don't you think that this system
could wait for a little while. After all, there aren't
that many people living in Alberta and the cost (for
new towers and radios) is pretty high. Not to
mention, but I'm really sick and tired of all the
towers dotting the landscape, they are gross and
dangerous to our health.

It doesn't matter what the present bozos say (Don't worry, be happy), it's the next power you gotta worry about who may actually be reading and understanding the power these acts give them.

I heard these three MLAs at the Alberta Beef Industry Conference in Red Deer two weeks ago. I think they did a pretty good job explaining...
If anything the question should be whether to trust a lawyer...

Did they read the bills word for word to
you? If they did a good job of
explaining, it is simply because they have
a lot of explaining to do. You can
download the bills for free at the Queen's
printer site, and read for yourself.
There is very little to explain, or
interpret. It is pretty Black and White.

Ruken, they had a half an hour to explain something that is rather complicated. Only time for 2 comments and no questions. I assume you never wanted to get any deeper into the subject and choose not to sit with any of the 3 at lunch to clarify any of the changes or non changes. There certainly are some conversations going on right now to clarify from both sides of the conversation. It is a dangerous game not to ask for clarification and accountability on this subject. Even if you have complete faith in the present government, legislation lives on and has to be bullet proof for the next government.

smc and per, I agree with both of you that the thing must be bullet proof. Thats where we come in.

And the next government, although she sounds well, and may in fact be well, will not last forever with her present ideologies. No matter what the name of the party,they will all go sideways over time. Thats where we come in...

Couldn't agree with you more Ruken. I am however still not convinced we are there yet on 36 at least not until Ted and Evan convince me beyond any doubt.
