What has been noticed since June 15 hearing Habermehl vs CFIA in Saskatchewan

Time for a new thread. Since the June 15 hearing Habermehl vs CFIA (Saskatoon) and June 23 hearing Coward vs CFIA (Swift Current).

    1) It appears the three CFIA inspectors out of the one district office have been split up. Head veterinarian moved to Regina office.

2)There has been no further charges come forth regarding RFID eartags and movement violations.

3)Great discussion with operators of auction markets ---Saskatoon and Assiniboia, Weyburn, and now others.------Haven't seen CFIA inspectors at all around the markets this fall. Before June 15 plentiful and often.

4)The last case---Bison Violation scheduled for Nov 12 been postponed till Jan 28. CFIA legal counsel totally protecting their inspectors to not show up in person at the hearings but to testify via telephone under oath from their office into the court-room.

This will be the first case of non-compliance regarding bison going to a hearing. Section 176 violation. There is no tagging station for bison in Saskatchewan for animals to be RE-TAGGED.

Very strong evidence building to defend the bison owner. He will be defending himself.

CFIA can lay all the charges it wants----That person can still challange those charges under CART---Canadian Agriculture Review Tribunal. As your own defense represented yourself you have alot of ability to do things to even the playing field.

Now in the court-room as defence you can use any preceeding statements that are are record on the cases before you.

RFID eartags are now on record of having a huge retention problem and the issue of re-tagging has been introduced.

Cattlemen came behind my cause and the Cowards cause and another following is rallying behind the bison case. Evidence recorded from each case going forward is a building block of defence.

P.S even with being found non-compliant cattlemen are not paying the penalty.

Follow decisions under Canadian Agriculture review tribunal----the activity with CFIA activity has slowed down

Saskatchewan Cattlemen magazine talks about the different approach CFIA (equivalent) in Australia is taking. Totally educational approach with many steps before any monetary penalty is applied.

Grass roots cattlemen will stick together and support each other also.

Bison? How much fun would that be? It's dangerous enough re-tagging a bull, let alone a bison.

Anyone here had any experience with these animals? I bet they take it to a whole new level.
