    Satellite Imagery

Farms are being satellite-spied upon. Have you concerns about any of the following:

    Security issuse?
    Privacy issue?
    Permission issue?
    Courtesy Issue?
    Private Property Issue?
Is your farm information being sold and you don't get any of the money?
    Who owns your crop information?
    Who owns your property information?
Who owns visible asset information, such as cars, pool, etc.?

The only time I would appear naked is on a hot day. "It's nice out today, I think I'll leave it out". On a cold day they wouldn't be able to see anything even with their most advanced technology. Parsley, did you say privacy or privatesee?

Listening to you boys, you should patent the word lotstasee. lol

As technology improves, and it does:

"Lafond noted such data could be valuable in quickly estimating seeded acreages, which might be useful to grain marketing firms."

Market Intelligence is valuable. Yieds. Acres. Crops. Varieties. Information is worth $$$

          Your concerns are my concerns.

With all the legislation being brought in to control food and animal production, including Premise ID which is actually a license to operate and own livestock, there appears to be a very socialistic attitude in the Departments of Agriculture and CFIA.

They have provided money to us ranchers, now they think they can tell us exactly what to do, when to do it; and that they will decide who can AND CAN'T own livestock.

While trying to force vaccination programs on the human population seems sinister enough, there would be alot more profit in forcing vaccination programs for all the livestock.

I simply cannot believe how all the people in agriculture are silently walking into this TRAP. I think that with a little more time, at the rate in which the legislation and rules and regs are coming down upon us, there will be such a mass exadus from Agriculture that only a very small number of corporations will control ALL our food supplies (from field to plate).... then you watch.... the profits will be huge.

Enforcing the OIE rules and traceability procedures upon us, is just a tool to crush the little guys left in agriculture. Why in Gods name do I need a number to identify my farm in order to own, raise, breed, keep, show, etc. my livestock. Can't people see this is a restriction that places the ranching (livestock) community under the auspices of 'permitted activity'.... This is how they control other professionals, by licensing their activities ... and then threatening to take away their license if they don't toe the party line.

I don't know who I'm more disappointed in: the bureaucrats and politicians that put forth these pathetic laws, or the ranching community that swallows them hook and sinker!

Interesting concept. I think the info on my land is mine and cannot be released without permission/payment.

I can't even get my credit report online without a visa card so why should someone be able to steal my crop info. I know why they want to develop it but ultimately it will work against farmers in the long run. OR maybe it will help if it actually identifies a drought sooner and its impact on the market. If my farm info was fed back to me free of charge prior to being released to other companies maybe I could see a benefit.

You guys are too funny!!! JD, I think I already saw your naked bum on google earth - not pretty! All good points, but sattlelite imagery has been around for decades and was purchased by grain companies and the CWB from the CIA commercial division no less. Get used to it, your being watched at the ATM, on street corners in most cities, in Sears, The Bay, Walmart and in some malls, even in the washroom and or fitting room. Cameras will get you a traffic ticket without having that 'personal' touch. What's scary is that everyday there is more invasion of privacy on ocurring every minute. And it doesn't seem to matter whether the powers that be are lefties or righties- they can't seem to help themselves. Now they are proposing that your website hits can be viewed by athorities and that ISP's must maintain a record of all your usage. And that includes your e-mail accounts, so be careful what you post on Agville, big brother is watching. Orwell had no idea! And the common fallback is that if you are square and honest, you should have nothing to hide. That's BS and contravenes the basic tennant of citizenship in a democratic society - burden of proof, innocent until proven guilty! Kathy is right on, it only happened because WE let it happen. Too late folks, and be careful what you do in front of the TV, they are probably watching you while you watch them, lol!

I guess what I find annoying is the fact that I cannot
do online banking without allowing cookies to be
used on my computer. If I block cookies, then I cannot
log on to my accounts. Why does the bank want to
place cookies on my computer? When I complained to
them, the answer was that that's just the way the
                program is set up.
