Right on Saskfarmer3, it looks like the urban workers not on the government public service gravy train are finally realizing that they are getting the shaft as much as the rural population is out here, and possibly the NDP haven't had enough time to manipulate the voting boundaries enough to steel another election.

Yes, it is probibily time for the people of Sask. to learn why they got rid of the last Right-wing government but, as an Albertan I got to say it's going to be 4 or 5 years of hard learn'n.

We have the same situation here in Saskatchewan as in Canada as a whole. Out west our vote never counted, dictator Chretien laughed in our faces, his bought off servants laughed in our faces as we got the shaft from his policies and had no power to democratically change it. Thanks to his own greed in the sponsorship scandal he lost support in Quebec for the Liberals, thus we are where we are federally. It's not so much the promise of what Harper's government is going to do because frankly as far as agriculture they are as inept as the Liberals were on most issues but rather the case people couldn't stand being treated so disrespectfully east vs west.
Provincially it's the same thing, the finance minister repeatedly laughs in the faces of rural people, we haven't been able to do anything democratically about it, until possibly now that the urban people are realizing the scandal that this province has had for generations, which is the funnelling of money to the union workers at the expense of all the rest of us. Thus likely we will have a change of government, and yes they may not do much more but at least they won't be laughing in my face!(although with their severance packages maybe they still will be, how ironic is that, they will get booted out yet end up rewarded with the best severence any province in canada can offer for doing a crappy job)
On the issue of Devine's government our communistic style reporting in this province fails to highlight that the windfalls we are enjoying in the energy sector today, has much to do with the forward thinking of that government in exploration etc. that they did in the past.

By the way cowdog you wouldn't happen to be Dwayne Lingenfelter prominent NDP er who boasted the great province of Saskatchewan, yet left for Alberta because he couldn't stand Calvert type politics? (Dwayne is a good person, was just with the wrong party)

            Cowdog...your dog don't hunt!

We have never had a "rightwing" government!! The Devine government was a coalition run by LIBERALS. They spent like liberals acted like liberals and out socalized the NDP! That is how they got elected!

How you might ask does Lorne Calvert justify a salary $9000 more per year that the premier of B.C. where there is three times the population and a much more diversified economy??

Maybe the Premier of BC gets more "brown envelopes" than Calvert does?

              Comparing salaries is a "no-brainer".
