    Election

At the rate the Conservative/ Reformers are making enemies, I predict an election before spring. If they introduce their income trust bill, it will be defeated and so will the government. They have badly underestimated electoral backlash. How could they screw their own Alta supporters, who own most of the trusts. Talk about dumb. At this rate the Conservative/Reformers will be behind the socialist NDP. Even Minister Strahl weighed in on the trusts. He and his government probably won't survive to change the CWB. There will be no vote ,at least under this government's watch.

agstar: I sincerely doubt we have to worry about the NDP bringing down the government? Did you hear the Liberals ripping the NDP last night on the news?
Come on, the Liberals are in the middle of a leadership campaign, do you really believe they have any interest in going with Graham as the leader?
This will pass. No two ways about it.

Agstar you amaze me. The Conservatives move to close a tax loophole that benefits those large corporate villians and you the good socalist opposes that. I would have thought a move such as this would have strong support from the NDP. The fact no one new this was going to happen only speaks of astute politics and avoiding the pitfalls the Liberals went through.

Their astute politics will get them thrown out of office. I don't have any particular interest in any political party. If they had put a moratorium on trusts , it would not have been a problem. A large number of people have put money under the current scheme including CPP pension fund that we all have an investment in. In other words it is a big deal.

          "Talk about dumb."

"I don't have any particular interest in any political party"

Please don't insult us with your obvious socialist bias AS.

            Agstar77;

Watch Question period on CPAC today...

Bob Layton is calling the shots.

NDP said on Monday the Gov. would fall by Thursday... unless Harper dealt with him.

            1. Environment Bill back to COmmittee... as Layton asked for.

            2. Income Trusts dealt with... a principal that brought the Liberals down... their mishandling of this taxation issue brought about the election.

            3. A CWB Plebicite... a request of the NDP or a change to the CWB marketing mandate.

            Harper had a choice...

Play ball with Layton... or have an early election.

Optics were not good at all for an election now... for any party.

I may be crazy...but; it sure can be interesting, what can be seen, with a little imagination!

Why wouldnt they want an election now? Liberals are a mess, conservitives would gain {a majority anyway},ndp would gain, bloc would become stronger with a strong conservative government. Maybe this is Laytons coup de ta with all the conservitive backlashs latelty hes maybe thinking big gains and official opposition statatous?Just wondering.
