USDA asks court to kick out R-CALF suit
    meatingplace.com

USDA filed a motion with an appeals court requesting that the re-instituted lawsuit by Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund concerning the rule that reopened the border to live Canadian cattle be dismissed.

USDA argued that all the issues have already been argued and rejected by the appeals court.

R-CALF has contended that very few issues were even brought up in the original action, in which the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the ranchers group and allowed the border to reopen.

Now I'm not going to defend R-CALF, but they might have a valid argument in that there have been new cases? If you accept the idea that the USDA is testing as thorough as Canada is, then I would say they have a case?
But I think the USDA and R-CALF know this whole thing is nothing more than a straw dog to keep out Canadian beef? Nothing more than blatant protectionism? Hey if you can't compete you have to come up with some "creative solutions" to the problem!
R-CALF is just another clown type organization that is more concerned about getting the dumbies to part with their money? Sell a calf at the local auction barn and have all the other old rednecks slap you on the back! In the end all you did was waste $600?
You've heard the expression "My momma never raised no fools"?...I guess some of their mommas might be wondering???

r-calf is engaged in one of those lie often and long enough and some people will think it's the truth campaigns. but then what the heck usda and ncba have lied to us too so why don't our cca anabp and cfia people smarten up and learn from other countries that have dealt with bse and get on with life instead of waiting for the orders from washington? oh well, guess we'll see how much damage canadians can do to the canadian cattle industry. you have to remember, in the states, willowcreek and his bunch are the losers. in the end r-calf will only survive as long as usda and the packers allow it to. r-calf is quite useful to the packers to run interference for them while the industry is styled to packer preferences.

CCA- ABP- and all the other Canuck groups have sold you guys down the tubes to the multinationals- and half of you just can't/don't want to see it...

You have no Canadian cattle industry anymore- you have no Canadian beef industry anymore...They are all tied to the shirttails of the US industries..And you are now dependent upon the whims of US politics.

In fact you don't even have Canadian beef anymore- few in the states have even seen Canadian beef, since the multinationals/retailers/importers have to remove all the Canadian labeling, restamp with the USDA inspected label, and pass off as US product in order to sell it...

Yep good Ole CCA-ABP and crew are the Judas goats that made you complacent and fed you to the Big Packers...What you get when you don't have a cattlemans organization that will take on the Big Boys- and even out the playing field....

Gosh willowcreep,if we are such a nonfactor anymore why do you spend so much time and energy preaching to us.By inferring we do not have an organization to take on the Big boys you assume we would love to have a group like R-calf up here.Unlike you,the average Canadian cattleman has no desire to belong to a group based on protectionist lies to justify its existence.Your own USDA has little respect for your group and considers you little more than a pain in the ass.Keep spreading your lies amongst your fellow R-calfers.Those of us that managed to survive the crisis up here have no patience for your crap.

There's a guy just like him on Ranchers.net I wouldn't pay him any heed-he wouldn't last past his first hard frost ranching up here. He can cut and paste with the best though-maybe R-Calf is having a scrapbook and colouring conrtest for all their members. I'm sure the old Warbler from WillowCreek will be on here chirping again tomorrow.

Now you boys don't chase Willowcreek away! He represents a point of view that we have to deal with...whether we like it or not!
In a way I don't blame R-CALF for doing what they do, which is try to keep Canadian cattle out of their sweet market? Would we act any different if our market was being flooded with cheap beef from South America or Oceania?
Make no mistake...R-CALF was created for one purpose...keeping Canadian cattle out of the US market! Since then they have branched out to a "hate all packers" and big business in general! Always funny to see the wingdings take over an organization that was created to deal with one particular problem? Thus you have them smearing American beef and their own inspection agency and getting into bed with enviro kooks! Amazing?

Like I said- most of you can't/won't look past the end of your noses- but just like cowman says, when the cheaper Central and South American beef starts pouring north in the next few years the Packer boys will shed you like ticks in a dip-- Canadian producers, of all people, should remember the loyalty shown by the multinationals a few years ago...

But the worst part is Canada will have no market to fall back on...US beef is known and being marketed around the world- it will ride on its reputation...But no one even knows there is such a thing as Canadian beef/ whether its good or bad- they've never seen it in the states for years (its all marked with a USDA inspected stamp and passed off as US beef) .... For the past 10-12 years the multinationals have stolen the identity away from Canadian beef, by marketing as US beef...A fraud that the multinationals profit off of- use to manipulate the US cattle market-- and everyday make Canadian producers more enslaved and dependent on them...

Actually Willowcreek you might be a bit wrong there?
The fact is before the "CROW" died, we had a very viable beef market in Canada and had no need to export to the USA? We were a net importer of beef...look it up?
The "CROW" died because the American grain industry was challenging freight subsidies to Canadian grain. Not fair you see...never mind the American grain farmer was getting much more subsidy than the Canadian grain farmer!
So suddenly our grain was worthless and what in the hell can you do?
Suddenly every man and his dog wanted to raise cows and hogs, because the fact was they had to... or go broke!
Our spineless government of the day wouldn't stand up to the American bully and thus we had an "instant Johnny come lately beef industry"!
Now for us old time committed cow/calf producers this was an abomination! The days when the Canadians who should be raising cattle might just return and we really won;t need to rely on your market?
You might consider asking your government to end their outrageous subsidies to the grain industry so more Canadian farmers can get back to what they should be doing...growing grain!
