The process is a surgical one, best left to Vets. Here are two links that talk about the process and the benefits from spaying heifers. http://www.ianr.unl.edu/pubs/beef/g463.htm http://www.agric.wa.gov.au/agency/Pubns/agmemos/SRang/1997/memo697/page9.htm Alberta Agriculture has done several studies on the performance of spayed heifers compared to steers compared to intact heifers, follow the link to Alberta Agricultures homepage, click on search, and type in spayed heifers to get the list of studies.
