Feb 6, 2005 | 07:05 3 I doubt we'll ever see levels rise to 2002 levels? The drought was pretty ugly and I for one sure was glad to see those American buyers finding a home for my calves!
However I have to agree with you that it seems odd the US hasn't found any BSE cattle with all the testing they seem to be doing? I hope they are playing fair and aren't sweeping this whole thing under the carpet? Perhaps if you don't test any animal that is a "chance" you probably won't get any, but is this a real sound philosophy? Isn't that what Japan tried to do at first? Reply With Quote

There could be several reasons why your carrots have turned bitter but most have to do with the production of ethane by other fruits and vegetables stored with them. Some of the worst offenders are apples and broccoli. Both produce high amounts of ethane as they respire. This causes the carrot to turn bitter. hope this helps Reply With Quote
