    Renting pasture

I have a gentlemen that wants to bring 5-6 cow/calf pairs to graze on our pasture what is a fair price to charge? The pasture needs the extra load or am I better to buy cow/calf pairs for myself & keep the cows? What should I be paying in Manitoba for pairs?

I don't what pasture rents for in your area, but arround here (Central Alberta) the going rate seems to be from $20.00 to $25.00 for each cow/calf pair per month.

In Northeastern Alberta we charge $0.75 per day per animal unit (cow/calf pair or mature cow without calf). We've heard everywhere from $0.67 per day to $1.00 per day depending on services. Do they doctor any sick animals themselves or do you? Do they provide their own salt and mineral or do you?

We are supplying salt/mineral,The sickness thing is still a question. We will tell the owner but if he doesn't fix up the problem I guess we will treat or load up the animals & send them home. This is still open ended since this is our first year but it looks like you get paid pretty good for waste land.MB has lots of valleys that you can't get at with equipment anyways. What we are pasturing is brome/alfalfa hayland with some brush. The fellow who charges $1 is intensively grazing alfalfa. I guess it all depends on what you feel your costs.
