Relentless SE wind for 2 days, not a drop in site.

60% done, fighting with gremlins on the drill past couple days.

Lots of acres to go around here yet.

            Really strange for this area

Got our first rain since the snow overnight, 6/10” in total. Perfect rain for germination, everything should pop out of the ground quickly now. Finished canola plots yesterday, now just a few wet acres that we missed earlier. Will anger the rain gods seeding potholes, hopefully bring on more precipitation.

Had .4 tenths on Tuesday which was nice but now another 1.5 inches over night and this morning which has water pooling. Not what you want on canola seedlings.

For the some of the driest areas of western Canada this rain , although variable will give those areas at least a chance of a crop
Many areas were incredibly dire as of 5 days ago.

Not to mention the forest areas in Alberta and Sask and those communities all through there .
Not a drought breaker ,but relief for a few weeks at least

for 'bertans, there's a neat tool here where you can check current rainfall vs historical.

                    https://agriculture.alberta.ca/acis/weather-data-viewer.jsp

my area: typically we've gotten almost 2" from Apr 20 till now. This year just 1/2" to date.

Too much already. It can stop anytime, can’t just get a nice half inch and be done for a week no it has to keep coming once it starts.

We had 2 thunderstorms overnight gauge only showed 1/2 inch but sure looks like more first one came down so fast don’t think most of it registered in the gauge. Pouring again too.

Rained most of the day and gauge shows 2 inches. Water running again!
Half inch would have been perfect.
Sun will come out one day and then the mosquitos will be out in full force.

I have my knee pads on, heading out kneeling toward Mecca. 🙏 Very young Canola love a good soaking to get ahead of the flea beetles. The predictions went from 50 mm to 25 mm, now maybe 10.

Blue versi, send that rain here. Our brother’s 1979, Steiger Tiger with Cummins 1150 and 6-speed Allison Automatic with torque converter, pulled a 60 foot Morris C2 flawlessly with only an oil change —— again. He seeded his home section with less than 300 gallons in really wet heavy gumbo, no recirculating, no re-exhaust just worry-free brute force, year after year. That tractor gotta take the prize!
