Started at noon family farm burnt up to 10 feet away from the house, 10-15 quarters burning. Plus 28 60 k wind. Spent the day firegaurding. 2 bush 1/4s wildfire. Peatmoss nightmare.

You make fire breaks around your yards? What is the fuel for the fires? Grass? Pine?

Danielle Smith said more than 3/4 of the fires are man made. Are people really this careless these days.

Wont be long before memories of Fort Mac emerge and people start calling the oil patch to blame.

Yes they are very careless. In my travels along highway 16 the other day, I saw 4 fires in a stretch of 150 km all started along the highway. Likely cigarette butts.

You know it is dry, why throw the stupid thing out? There is an ashtray for a reason. And if your vehicle doesn’t have one, a water bottle with some water in it would work just fine, no?

Started in a bush 1/4 and slough grass burns like gasoline Fire jumped over 200 yards at a time with the wind, roads had no affect.

There are truly some sick puppies that live among us.

                        Back to SF’s crop report
                        Seeding well under way here
                        Relentless winds drying things out
Soil moisture still ok here , lighter land getting dry
The deep ripper experiment last fall was interesting the past few days . Seeded through some areas never seeded in early May while wet spots not toughed had to go around .
But have to be very careful, those ripped areas are soft .
About 12% done , poking in wheat
Will hopefully do side by side with Seed Master in wheat in a few days then the SM can go on canola

Seeding wheat about 15 % done
Unusually dry for this area , but still have to pick and choose dry enough fields

Drills almost done and ready to start Plant 23.

Rebuilt coulters on newer drill end to end.

The journey starts Monday. Wanted to be going for a wk, but moisture we had might go a long ways come July.
                              Happy and safe seeding everyone.

A little over a third done seeding here. One neighbour is seeding canola, everybody else on the tail end of their wheat. Had a 70% chance of much needed showers overnight, unfortunately the 30% chance of no rain won out. Showers are in the forecast for the next few days, here’s hoping.
