    Look ballons.

What are the odds. Right over the beach and pretty low altitude. Four helicopters searching hours later. Can't even hide in costa rica.

They knew about the thing before it hit Alaska. They were keeping it quiet so china was no more the wiser about North American defence and monitoring capabilities. If it wasn’t for civilians noticing and saying wtf? The thing would’ve gone unnoticed. I really wonder why china is pulling these moves when their economy is in the crapper and they probably need the USA and west to buy their crap to keep their economy afloat and stave off mass starvation cause Russia isn’t going to save them.

Who was really spying on who?

The Americans easily could have been shot down in the Pacific or Montana. The Commie's already have satellites focus on the USA.

Following it through the USA heartland to see what information the Commies are interested in, then when it hits the Atlantic. Boom!

The Americans were one step ahead of the commies like they always are.

For as sophisticated and dangerous we might think they are, they are ignorant in their own right. What we take for granted in common knowledge or even critical thought totalitarian regimes don’t possess a lot of it. We see all these skysc****rs and notions of mega factories but remember that’s western corporations and people who made it possible. Tear away the facade it’s not what it seems.

It never ceases to amaze me about the depth and variety of knowledge this forum posesses, about topics as varied as vaccine development, how to get ships out of canals when stuck crosswise, to war tactics, and the correct location of historical borders.
And now, we can add balloons to the roster. No wonder I keep coming back.

For some reason they targeted the business end, the electronics. Weird you would think they would shoot the barroon and let it fall to inspect the tech.

Perhaps targeting cannot lock on to a balloon, no metal.

Only need to poke a hole through a helium barroon.

Nasa is the largest consumer of helium in the world.
