So not great news for some . What the hell is going on with flights . Are planes not full? Sure sounds like they are so what is the problem . ?
    Who operates these airports?

So what are you saying Sunwing not flying out of Sask airports anymore? Flew with them a few years ago to a warm destination. Got the vibe they’re a bit, don’t like slagging but, a bit. I won’t go there. Just remember we flew out of Toon and landed in Regina for fuel cause it was probably cheaper there. Coming home which was supposed to be an uninterrupted flight had a layover in Santa Clara Cuba for an hour for fuel. They fly by the seat of their pants and any operator which pushes glorified time shares by shady means is a bum.

No sunwing flights out of Sask until february, Westjet cancelling lots today too.

Once you hurt a business with stupid rules, they are unlikely to ever recover.

Here's a "rule", they cancel based on their bottom line! That's what publicly traded companies do Jazz.

The way to fix this mess is STAY HOME.

PHUCK the airports jammed with mad disappointed people going no place. And shi tty weather?

And shortage of qualified people? Trust them that show up reluctantly to do a job properly?

You got a disgruntled labor dispute, a takeover bid and a shit ton of crap going on behind the scenes with competition bureau. If you are thinking of booking, BOOK IT! This won't get cheaper moving forward, they are screwing with emotions. If Westjet gets approval by competition bureau, they will fill the obligations no questions asked. The union is trying to renege on the agreed to deal.

It's a bullshit deal for anyone coming home/leaving this week, I definitely feel for anyone getting their plans trashed this morning.

Mother in laws Westjet flight was scrubbed today after she had checked in and went through security. Plane was there, but they told us no crew. Dont know if that means cabin crew or ground crew or maybe both.

These airlines have been decimated by covid garbage. Thousands have quit rather than be forcibly jabbed including front desk staff, call center, pilots and ground crew.

Don't know exactly why but it appears many of these airlines lost the people who used to run them.

Southwest used to have a great reputation like Westjet. They had to suspend operations because they basicly lost track of where there crews were and had crews waiting 23hrs to get a ferrie to their next assignment.
It seems the people that used to know are gone and nobody trained the replacements.
                      Good people make good companies.
The lockdowns effects are showing up. Probably in lots of places not as obvious as the travel industry.

We were booked on westjet for Christmas Day. Son and his family were on sunwing, same day, and we were all cancelled that day, all rebooked for 26 th on sunwing. That too was cancelled. We all booked for dec. 30th on sun wing and got cancelled also. Now driving to Edmonton this afternoon to catch Flair airlines tomorrow morning. Westjet and now supposedly sunwing have been bought out by Onex Corp. Jerry Schwartz is ceo. Sounds like another mayo Schmidt or Hunter Harrison. Good for share holders but will destroy morale with employees and, if like Schmidt and Harrison, will be lacking on infrastructure maintaince on everything. Hope that part is wrong. We will eventually get to our home in Guayabitos, but this has been a shit show. Absolute confusion with anyone you called who were supposed to be representing the company. Sunwing now denying responsibility and dragging feet on refunds. Westjet already refunded everything. Oh well, had lots of snow in the yard to push,,,Happy New year to one and all.

                          Onex bought Westjet May 2019.
                          Westjet bought Sunwing March 2022.

Who ever thought Air Canada would be considered the preferred airline?

Doesnt WJ also own that Swoop line too.

Maybe time for that company to consolidate a bit and focus on core operations. Get back to jets between Canadian cities instead of those Dash 8 antiques.
