I wasn't a big fan of Regan when he was first elected.
The media ridiculed him as "Rootin Tootin Ronnie" the 4th rate Hollywood actor.
The US was at a low ebb as far as pride in their country after Jimmy Carter and the Iran mess.
Regan preached pride in hard work by individuals was what made the country great.
Governments job was to get out of the way and let individuals excel.
He projected as right wing but actually brought the whole country together and won with large margins.
