    The War in Canada

Maybe take a moment to look into the near future of this country.

In case you havent noticed, its ripping itself apart at the seams and its only going to get worse.

The NWC was invoked this week in Ontario and its creating a tempest. Ford may have unwillingly torpedoed CPC support by doing so even though he is a closet Liberal. Trudeau threw him under the bus immediately even though Quebec has used it a dozen times. But its rebounding right back on them due to the EMA doing the same thing.

Sask and Ab are passing protection legislation against the feds and they will be the next provinces to wield the NWC but when they do it, the govt will invoke a little known clause called disallowance to stop it. Part 1 of constitutional crises.

For Trudeau to win the next election, he needs to flood our immigration system with 500,000 more per yr even though these people are now using the food banks exclusively and approx 20% are on some sort of social assistance permanently. Trouble is, many immigrants settle into provinces like Quebec with its generous social programs paid for by our equalization. So Quebec will be going to battle on that issue because French language. Part 2 constitutional crisis.

There is a part 3 and 4 that will be precipitated by health transfers, more carbon taxes, fertilizer, ESG rules and the clean fuel standard.

And Canadas economy received a windfall due solely to oil royalties which was quickly squandered on pet projects like $400m to monkey pox and $42 for CBC even as Freeland admitted we are going to hit the wall in the economy. Next yr the Libs dental boondoggle will start which will add a permeant $5B per yr tab to our budget. Servicing Canadas debt will soon outstrip health care costs.

The fed govt is also spending tax payer money trying to flip provincial elections and they are going after Smith hard.

Going to be a rocky couple yrs.

I wouldn't want to be the last "have" province to pull the plug on being part of this Confederation. That will be quite the burden to bear all alone.

I've read enough history to know the use of the word war a stretch.
What is more likely is the scenario you allude to. First and second generation Canadians electing the govt.
The First Nations or Quebecois might then ask us how does it feel?
It will be the country it will be at the time. Nothing you or our regional culture can do about it now or if we exist in 50 years.
Interesting to compare the despised US and its as yet adaptable constitution, to ours in that time. Of course, the culture gets the constitution it deserves I suppose.
For now I support any provincial rights we can get. It's about time.
I don't believe our large diverse geography well served with the present system.

Maybe war is the wrong term, the point is that the Kumbaya moment for Canada is way in the rear view mirror no matter who is in power. Provinces will keep asserting autonomy until there is little left that binds us in the country. Quebec may even be the focal point, not AB.

Here is some of Moes Sask First Act. Fairly aggressive push back. Following Quebec precedent.

War in Canada? Another stupid exaggeration perpetrated by the small fringe minority of right wing extremists and radicals.

The provinces and regions in Canada have often had disagreements with the federal government over jurisdiction. Nothing new there.

Ford's use of the not withstanding clause to prevent a walk out during a labour dispute was not what the not withstanding clause was supposed to be used for.

It was to be only used rarely in very exceptional circumstances.

To use it to block the rights of workers to bargain collectively with their employer is an attack on the constitutional right of workers to bargain collectively. To use it preemptively against school support workers is overkill and was unnecessary.

Quebec used it to take away the rights of public workers from wearing religious symbols such as hijabs and turbans on the job. A clear violation of human rights for religious and ethnic minorities.

The provinces except for Quebec agreed to accept the repatriated constitution and charter of rights and freedoms in 1982. So governments have no choice but follow it. Quebec has its own charter of rights.

Too bad our constitution seemingly so hard to amend. Reaping the harvest I suppose. I wonder what PET really thought would happen?
