    A New King

Looks like Polarizing Polly's coronation timing couldn't be worse.

A new party leader wants to get the medias full attention. But the death of the Queen and Charles ascension are dominating the news cycle and will continue to for quite a awhile.

Pierre Who will be leading the party and his name recognition will not get much of a needed boost.

Maybe he will have more time to get selfies with the trucker convoy and wacky WEF conspiracy theorists? That should boost his fringe profile!

      opinion

      Andrew Coyne

The Liberals look like they’re done, or would be if the Tories weren’t determined to save them

In sum, this is a government that would appear ripe for the plucking: repellent to those outside its base, and increasingly unable to inspire much enthusiasm within. Indeed, a great many centrist voters, one suspects, the kind who flocked to the Liberal banner in 2015, would vote for any responsible alternative, and would have in each of the past two elections, if a responsible alternative had shown up.

That’s all the Conservatives have to do, it would seem: show up, shaved and sober, with practical proposals for addressing the everyday concerns of swing voters. And yet, time and again, the party has failed to do so. It failed to do so in 2019, it failed in 2021, and it seems determined to do so again.

The lesson it has absorbed from the 2021 experience, under Erin O’Toole – when it surged to the lead in the first half of the campaign, only to fade as the contradictions multiplied between what the leader was saying and what its base believed, notably on guns and vaccines – was not that the party should not stake out extreme positions with no appeal to the average voter, but that the leader should not contradict them.

And so, rather than use the leadership race as an opportunity to showcase itself as a government in waiting, reaching out to voters who, though discontented with the government, had until now hesitated to mark their ballots for the Conservatives, it has gone all in for the crackpot vote: pro-convoy, anti-vaccines, fearful that the World Economic Forum is plotting to put microchips in our brains.

Governments, it is said, defeat themselves. Unless the opposition beats them to it.

Quoting Marxist Coyne, might as well break out the communist manifesto and have a read.

King Charles will take the monarchy straight into the irrelevancy it deserves. He is all down with the climate cult and WEF and thats only going to turn people against it.

PP is on the right track if the Red Star needs to pump out 10 govt sanction articles every day.

After, Scheer and O'toole it looks like the Cons haven't learned anything and are about to strike out again.

Danielle Smith is about to lose the Alberta leadership race based on her "cockamamie" Sovereignty Act according to Jason Kenney.

Polarizing Polly is about to bring more "cockamamie" ideas to the federal Conservatives.

Should be interesting watching the "lunatics take over the asylum".

Problem is we like to think we own land in Canada, however we actual hold title in fee simple of the crown. Its technically all crown land. There was the ole bait in switch done when the land was first settled in Canada. About 70% of land in Canada was granted to CPR with a Title Patent that was forever, irrevocable and transferrable. Then in the early 1900's all the sudden land titles changed the titles to read held fee simple of the crown to settlers that did not know better. Click image for larger version

DANIELLE SMITH should lose the leadership race based upon the fact that while she was already the leader of a political party in alberta ( wildrose) she WALKED ACROSS THE FLOOR in order to save her own skin. That is, quite possibly, the lowest thing you can do as a politician. Bail out on your party... any loyalty you had, but most importantly on your constituents. ( although did she ever even win any seat?)
How do people forget this and how is she even a relevant thing in Alberta politics? Have we fallen this far ( yeah, apparently we have) that a scumbag like her can even have a shot at this ( again?). ?

                1800 nh3 for fall.
                17$/ L liberty.
Canola dropping like a stone while western canada knows our crop is not what it seems.
And a floorcrossing, backside hide saving junkstore politician like Danielle smith has a chance at being our current premier?
                What goes on here?

Pierre Treudau had a daughter (JT's stepsister?) with Deborah Coyne.

                  All in the family.

Is Smith any more of a scumbag than Redford or Kenny. She hasn’t built a palace in the sky or locked people in their homes.

She has the only policy for dealing with Ottawa. That’s her only claim and that’s enough for many. Too bad it’s 6 yrs too late.

I feel like the last honest premier we had was steady eddy stelmach ( who i used to sell grain inputs to) ...
The half his party walked across the floor when he mentioned raising oil royalty rates!

Jimmy Prentice was too honest and too late.
