Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Good morning the harvest is on. We are at 16% done and my guess is the province as a whole is 32% or higher as some on the west side are done or just about wrapping up. On the east side one more full week of no frost and it's game on baby.

HRS most has been sprayed and odd field swath for seed. Swathing means this year you harvest 5 to 7 days later it's ready even in the green areas. The spray takes 7 to 10 this year. Weeds are getting killed as we are still actively growing but it is drying up. Early yields in our area are from 65 to 100. Rain makes grain if it's an inch a week every week. Quality issues on some early with ergot. But it's a one for sure and an excellent colour. One thing on wheat in a wet area bacteria maybe caused premature dying and all the fungicides in the world won't help with that.

Durum harvest is just getting underway shortly.

Peas are all but wrapped up with the last fields getting harvested yesterday. Yields of 45 to 65 were expected. If poorer chem carry over and disease with the 8-year rule.

Lentils were from not bad to piss poor depending on the field and the amount of rain.

Barley the early harvest is all but done and it's heavy with yields up to 100. Late barley is awsome and now swath or sprayed for feed next week will know the results.

Oats are thick and the tops are turning the bottom is still green. Swathing is taking place.

Canola is turning and if guys are swathing it is go go go. Lots have started to shut Canola down and its changing very fast almost to fast. Early yields are not out yet no one has started combining Canola in the strip from Regina to Melville.

Pastures did start to show that they are in fall mode. No one has done a second cut of hay as the first was awesome.

Some parts are running short, Canvas for headers now.

Two headers arrived and the combines were delayed again due to tires now.

Trudeau is marching across Canada to have a meeting in Vancouver and booze it up but can't sit in parliament and debate his record. A **** is a ****.

Boboo has been running all over the place saying farmers are great and they don't want fertilizer reduction of 30% but with this group of misfits do you actually believe anything they say?

Off to spray the last 20 quarters so it's an early start today. We have caught up with the harvest and have to wait three or 4 days till the rest is ready to go then it could be clean sailing. Chance of frost tomorrow night till Sunday oh it's a full moon and has nothing to due with temps.

Stay safe and remember it's only a crop and the ****ers are already trying to steal it.

Also one correction after getting some yield data on the canola on the west side. 20.9 mt now and lots are screwing up with swathing to green and the heat will shrink lots of yields.

Sounds like knife sections are another thing that's short, rumour has it macdon plant is unable to finish headers as they have no knives. Deere has started shipping headers with no spare knife if one was on the order, telling dealers to deselect them from the order, not that they'll supply one when available, they'll get told that the contract will be honored as accepted I'm not paying a higher price through parts later.next they'll be shipping sf3 his machines and telling him to find his own tires.

Finished up the other day. Wheat is running anywhere from 20-70. Canola 20-45. Depends how much hail and when. Was one rain away from some above average crops.

Stay safe and hoping for better prices soon!

          We are at 40% done.
75 acres of bly left then on to the early canola which is down 3 weeks on sat.
Early bly was the best even with wind damage of 5 b/a heads on the ground.
All bly dry and malt .
Still green canola which will get hurt if the F word comes.
Forecast of 3..but we are always colder..

Want better prices … quit posting yields!!!!!!!

Stats scan won’t need to call … it’s all right here.

They aren’t looking at the 20 bu it’s the 70 and 45 you got.

Again farmers shoot themselves in the foot.

Might sound like an ass, but everyone complaining isn’t going to solve anything when numbers get published. They can screw their satellite BS … it doesn’t work.

How about the guys who got 10 canola and 15 wheat???

One other thing this morning, watch the protein spreads on cwrs, Portland is about 1.75 cents per tenth.

When i questioned grain prices with a buyer his response was the good areas will easily make up for the poor areas. I think he may be correct on cereals, but canola i think its a smaller crop than estimated.

Over here in northern central alberta things are progressing nicely but canola yields are wayyyyy lower than expected. Big heavy crops that looked like 50-60 are 30-40. Heat did alot more damage than people thought. Wheat yields are good but nothing incredible.
Hahhaha i like that post about statscan not needing to call about yields because all the info is right here..
I very much agree. But mainly.. all of your yield data ( climate fieldview, deere.etc) gets sold to the grain companies. They have a better idea of yields in the area than we do.

WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY.

                            30% done here.
                            Peas good average for year.
Pleased with oats as a first time.
Wheat decent average so far but some has high ergot. Canola will just be average.

Canola is turning faster than any year I've ever seen. I wouldn't criticize anyone for swathing too early,,, because if you wait 36 hours, it might be too ripe! Ya, I get if you swath early you will get smaller seed.
If you open the ripe standing pods that usually have those big jumbo seeds,,, well this year the seeds are avg at best, many small seeds in ripe standing pods. It's ripening way too fast. Canola yield is not going to be anywhere, where many thought. Hold tight with your sales.
