Hi fertilizer prices will reduce crop production !

The production is there stockpiled the cos are playing games !

Today CF Industries said they will NOT be able to deliver up to 20% of fertilizer booked for seeding this spring (in the USA i assume??) due to issues with Union Pacific railway car backlog and engine/personnel shortage!!!


This could really increase spring price and leave lots of guys that booked/bought later or were waiting to buy NOT getting fertilizer for seeding?
Another case where if you don't already have it ON FARM you likely won't get it in time or AT ALL!!

UP Railroad is restricting shipments via private cars to try to clear up some of its problems. However, CF relies on its own fleet of cars for moving fertilizer into position; looks like it may need to reduce that by 20%, adding to worries of shortages in Midwest.

UP rail situation:

Sounds like the UP is backed up on shipments. As a result, they are restricting "private car" shipments (i.e. not UP equipment) by almost 20%.

We were already struggling with fert logistics coming into spring. This doesn't help at all...

Trucks are hard to find. Rail service had been slow thru winter. Rivers can go low/high at anytime.

Losing a chunk of service from a major railroad makes it that much hard to move fert.
