Pierre Poilievre - Crypto currency will save us

Polly wants everyone to put all their eggs in the crypto basket. Its higher quality!

Farmers and consumers get your money out of the banks and put it all in crypto so you will be free! LOL

“I want to take control of money away from politicians and bankers, and give it back to the people,” Mr. Poilievre said in a 20-minute speech in support of cryptocurrencies. It was a cross between an academic lecture and an evangelical sermon. For the photo-op finish, he bought a chicken shawarma with bitcoin.

“We need to give people the freedom to choose other money,” he said. “If the government is going to abuse our cash, we should have the right to opt to use other, higher-quality cash.”

Yes being captive to the banks is awesome, what are we now, almost $20/month account service fees? Extra charges to make deposits, extra charges to etransfer, etc.
Oh, Jag and Trudy and going to go after the big banks and tax them more. Guess where those costs are going to be passed on to.
      You fail every day Chuckles.

No we do not need more crypto currency. What is needed is MUCH smaller government and free markets. If interest rates were set in a free market environment the existing fiat currency would work and then you don't need to create new ones.

I see pocket Polly's push for more crypto currency doesn't seem to be getting much support from the agrisilly faithfull.

He is obviously courting the gamer generation who spend a whole lot of their lives in front of a screen and are happy to spend countless hours for an imaginary benefit. Polly probably doesn't realize that most of them would rather stay at home on election day gaming rather than voting for him.

Kinda like Polly who inhabits an imaginary political reality I suppose. It will be interesting to watch Polly defend his off the wall bizzarre ideas on crypto and a lot of other things.

“You want to be prime minister of Canada, and you're telling Canadians that cryptocurrency is going to wipe out inflation? Does anyone credible believe that? Is there any economic person in the country who actually said that he was right? I mean, this is it's not just wrong. It's bizarre,” Charest said.

Moe is one of the few that realize money has to be repaid
Didn’t care much for him but starting to reconsider
You will hafta explain to your grandkids how you supported this evil dictator as he ruins our country

"evil dictator" you are talking about Putin correct?

When posters say that Trudeau is a dictator and Canada is a shithole country. You know that they are pretty naive and that they need a lesson in civics.

If pocket polly wins the next election and trudeau is gone and I disagree with Polly can I call him a dictator? LOL

I think you’re naive if you think our exalted leader has strived to be transparent and democratic in his endeavours. CWB Stockholm syndrome does that to people.

Would you ever consider inflation due to governments pumping too much newly printed money into the economy as tax that the wage earner suffers the most from?
Anyone on any type of fixed income has to be coming up short these days. Or doing without a lot of things they are used to having.
                      What you think Chuck?

That why you need good income support programs and social programs for seniors, the sick and those who are unemployable and can't find work, and to protect those on fixed incomes that don't keep up with inflation. We have several programs for seniors but are they keeping up?

Covid, supply chain issues, low interest rates, material shortages, labour shortages, higher commodity prices and energy price increases, war, sanctions and disruptions along with all the money pumped into economies to keep them afloat during the pandemic, are all causing inflation.

Both Canada and the US spent alot of pandemic programs. Inflation is higher in the US and unemployment in both countries are currently low.
