How are they going to rebuild the rail lines quickly

It's a terrible thing that's happened but history says it's happened before.

They drained a lake and thought the pumps that handle 500000gpm would do the trick.

With photos from previous floods you would think an engineer could do the math.

Trees that were burnt in the summer have less water holding capacity to slow the effect of rains. Along with no vegetation on the forest floor.

It's a horrible thing to have to clean up.

But the railways actually believe they can be up and running by the weekend . There is a 100 foot deep washout below the tracks.

So...why did it take 5 years to build the Regina bypass if the railways can fix a mountain in less than a week?

Poor buggers for sure! CBC everyday makes it sound like they all should be paying $10 per liter fuel price this wouldn't have happened!

The only thing I can figure with the rail is that one line isn’t that badly damaged. All the washouts and washed away photos must be the same line (CP maybe?) and the other one isn’t so severe so can be repaired quicker. It could get going but it’ll be slow going for ages while they fix the other line.

This is the rumour anyway, that one line is more or less fine.

Time will tell if the rail is just full of shit. They’ve kept things hushed from the media before regarding closures.

Could be an entire city and critical infrastructure wiped off the map in minutes.

Good thing it is a short crop, and all the canola can be basically crushed domestically and new routes found to move the oil.

The daily transport report should show zero movement eventually because it has to be backing up to the prairies now.

Brother in Penticton says store shelves are empty, People hoarding. Fuel could run out. Wonder if any gas/crude lines washed out/got exposed? 1000's of carcasses in the water...

The rail closures in B.C. don't seem to be of much concern to the share holders of CNR and CP as share prices have dropped minimal.

So the railways may be up and running in the very near future in washed out areas.

And expert from U.of Manitoba did say this morning that grain shipments could be effected the most out of any other commodity or other goods.

100s of billions promised in infrastructure spending over the decades and yet we still have only a couple routes to the west coast for as important as it is.

G3 built great infrastructure on the prairies and at the coast, in between could still cause a shitkicking to their bottom line.

Same goes for all the grain companies though, this might make them think more vertical as in north south as opposed to east west ????

It's time to focus on Prince Rupert. A much better potential rail route and a straight shot west through Dixon Entrance.
