Deere & Co. and the United Auto Workers union reached a third tentative agreement on a contract in the latest bid to end a strike at the agricultural and construction equipment maker that started Oct. 14.

The UAW, which represents more than 10,000 Deere production and maintenance employees, said the latest offer included “modest modifications” to a proposal that union members rejected Nov. 2 by a margin of 55% to 45%. Workers also turned down an offer on Oct. 10.

I have to say this not to discriminate against either the union or management.

The previous contract had an end date. Why were they surprised? Wouldn't you fire the management people and the union reps if they didn't get the job done by the known deadline.

Here is another that makes me wonder. Air Canada executive can't speak french. Wouldn't you have a talk with the HR department head or the committee that hired him and set his pay without checking off the required prerequisites???

Cause and effect. Workers suffer at deere as they take the blame but the contract team on both sides are the failures.

Politicians getting some political air time over Air Canada but there are others to blame. I think it is a distraction for the 9 billion handout tha will eventually be written off.

Not sure people actually look at things objectively.
      Management good
      Union Bad
\or vice versa depending on which side you are on .

But objectively there are people on both sides to blame.

Workers at Deere & Co. ratified a new six-year contract Wednesday, ending a strike against the farm and construction machinery company that lasted over a month. The new 6 year contract was approved Wednesday 61% to 39%. Some shifts return to work today.

        Cheers!
