A day or so and the unwelcome plants around it should be outta there.

Everything is fresh, green and growing this morning.

It's the best time of the year, imho.

Warmth very welcome. Desert style heat is not. It's June 3 for crying out loud.

          1988 temps in Saskatoon:

          June 3 - 35.8
          June 4 - 38.0
          June 5 - 40.6
          June 6 - 40.1

          too much heat too early

Most farm groups want a better safety net and would be happier with an improved Agristability! Improving Agristabilty in the short term will help.

A few more weeks of plus 30 C and very little rain might make the changes to Agristability look good. But farmers are all 10ft tall and bullet proof untill there not!

The heat could help if there was actually some moisture to enable the crop to grow.

There is nothing 4 inches down and the ground with 35c heat will dry out along with 20% RH.

This is something that can no longer be ignored.

Some guys will want to wait for the combines to roll....well if the rain isn't forthcoming soon....no combines will roll and neither will any haying equipment.

Thats a bigger concern ...the cattle guys are pretty quiet that I find a little odd.

The crop here is loving the heat and its really nice to see dark green healthy plants.
Sure beats the yellow sickly plants you get out of water logged cold soil!

GRASSHOPPERS hatching like a wildfire spraying after supper for sure. Hay and pasture don't look so good after frost. Canola coming up good so far but beans getting puffy not out of the ground yet.

I've yet to experience a 95+* heat that is "beneficial".

Stack that onto 15-20mph wind and good things do not happen.

That said, it looks like today is the last of the worst heat for "us" for a little while, but it's worth noting that Spring Wheat country in the US is going to get DAYS of this! On top of soil moisture deficits that currently exist, there may be no coming back from this next 5-7 days for much of the Dakotas, Montana, Nebraska, and Kansas.
