Sometimes, ZI think I'm having a bad day, then I see this, some one(s) are having a much worse day.
So, now, on top of all thwe ships stacked up in South America, now all of these ships are waiting an indefinite period. With already high shipping rates, and backlogs on many commodities and products.
        This swan might justbe black.

I thought it was just truck-driving schools in Brampton, didn’t realize they had schools for ships captains too

Twitter say this is from 5hrs ago,

Looks like it might still be awhile before the ship is freed. That excavator might look small, but if you've ever stood next to (even a cruise ship), you know it isn't small at all.

Wow that live map is crazy, it is unbelievable how many ships are waiting, what the hell would the cost of all of this be?

What are the implications? Oil from the middle east and goods from the far east get scarce in Europe while those goods are diverted to markets elsewhere. Maybe farm equipment parts will make it over here now in time for spring work.

Lloyd’s of London estimate about 400 million per hour, just a little more than what it costs for the CN main line to be down.

I imagine the seacans will start getting dumped in a pile along the shoreline to lighten things up and get that beast moving.

Imagine some Russian lifting helicopters are on their way. The draft of that ship empty is massive, and judging by the state of Egypt’s infrastructure I’d imagine the canal is long due for a dredge. Could be a while before things get moving.

My cousin was a contractor and digging beside the CN main line west of Edmonton and the dirt fell away from under the track. He said he never seen that much excitement in his life. It took out the fibre optic line as well. The company president was in Edmonton and he showed up in a chopper to watch over everything. It was about 20 years ago and they said it was over a million dollars an hour loss. Luckily he wasn’t on the hook for the eight hour loss since he was under their control.

Looks like they need some more artillery for the battle there..................

400 million an hour. That's a lot of coin for someone to shell out.

Some estimates say weeks, not days. For everyone's sake, I sure hope not. It would take a long time to unload those cans.

Working with that tonnage is far beyond the comprehension of most.

I got a wagon load of corn stuck sideways on a lane-way once. There was nobody behind me.
