You won’t be able to get any new equipment anyways.... its sold out.

Everyone may as well delete the Ritchie App cause nothing there will be cheap this year. Reply With Quote
Feb 23, 2021 | 09:12 62 Next target is at 798 and 825 off May futures, thinking about raising them on account of March futures locked limit up at this time. Reply With Quote

Canola production could have been easily 10-15% higher with little effect currently.
The carry over stocks were never even remotely close to what they said.
And China would have still been on a buying spree because of the massive flooding to their main crop area.

regardless farmers are certainly doing their part in keeping the economy going in western Canada for now.
Hopefully there is a decent crop in 2021, a lot of money getting thrown around in some areas.
20 bus/ac at $13 dont pay very many bills now. A bare minimum average crop will be needed to cover the over inflated costs for next year. Reply With Quote

Livestock equipment???? Might be cheap because typically its the opposite of grain production and guys get out of cows chasing grain prices... Reply With Quote

Too bad all this “Bullish” commodity markets couldn’t drag along the actual bulls for $hits and giggles. If barley stays at $6.50 and fats at $1.50 that doesn’t compute very well for us cow/calf guys...........

I thought we were at the “bottom” of the cow cycle but my crystal ball isn’t working....... as usual. Reply With Quote

  • Feb 23, 2021 | 15:11 67 In the USA they say high corn=high cattle.

Not sure much influences the price in Canada as no real competition here as all goes down only 2 lines.

There is that small plant near Calgary. Do you know anybody sells to it? Only new investment in Canada in about 30 yrs. Reply With Quote

Or IF these prices were happening Sept 2020, ++ $$Billions more in western Canada.
Oh those slippery Chicoms, food/grain robbers/hoarders like Russians in 1974! I lived that wild time.
Early birds got the cheap stuff. Speculators maybe cashed out big, will see how future unfolds.
Wild cards everywhere, Weather/Climate, costs, parts shortages...
Unfortunately guys exited livestock, us included. Reply With Quote

It appears the March contract is done now after going limit up today and ended 830.70. Reply With Quote

Most options compensate for what the hedger is giving up if he were marketing the actual commodity. So there is some that will have been partially compensated and others that may have loaded up and been well paid for the cost of their premium.
There was 4113 contracts active at the end of Feb 22. Today there was 1871 volume. Should be room for some more fun tomorrow. There may be a few poorer option writers but they are usually hedged somehow Reply With Quote
Feb 23, 2021 | 21:57 72 There is something wrong in the trade here boys and girls. I phoned 6 outlets today within an hour of my place. $17 canola and none able to take a spot delivery. Durum too. Plugged full. April next movement. Says they are still trying to rail out the january contracts yet.

Somethings off here and it sounds like our system is part of it. Reply With Quote

Earlier Bucket was saying it was slow going in his area.
Between Feb 7 and 14 primary elevator stocks went down 350,000 tonnes. 80% of what they call working capacity. Reply With Quote

Maybe I can convince the wife yet, that dropping 40K into repairs for the combine last fall was a good idea?

Or rebuilding the C15 in my Pete last January was a good idea?

How is parts availability/pricing these days? Reply With Quote
