Lobster issue

Oct 18, 2020 | 08:07 1 Has the federal government really put in an effort to solve this problem?

It seems they have to take some of the responsibility for what is happening by not getting everyone at the table for a fair deal thats good for all...

Marc Miller said the commercial fisherman shouldn't be at the nation to nation meetings....thats a bit discriminatory considering the resources they have put into the industry..

While there has to be a respect for the indigenous people and their ability to fish lobster...it seems no government has put an effort into being proactive...

Anything concluded now is just reactive and may not be in the best interests of the parties involved...

Sort of marketing related as to what happens to the price of Lobster in the next few days.....

Get out the popcorn and see what lack of leadership will lead to. Reply With Quote

Oct 18, 2020 | 09:25 7 I think the natives should be able to catch and hunt all they want. The only stipulation needs to be with equipment before the big bad white man showed up. Means no rifles and pick up trucks! Reply With Quote

And that needs to be applied to everyone. The Antifa protesters, pipeline protestors, the anti-capitalists, the eco-warriors etc. It would solve a lot of problems in a hurry. Imagine if Chuck had to live by what he preaches? Reply With Quote

After all, they have an an established hierarchy.

Oct 18, 2020 | 10:23 12 The irony just drips off this one. The exact same Indian spokesmen who just a year ago were telling us that illegal blockades were no reason to bring out the police are now screaming for police involvement. Meanwhile the feckless Arsey MPs are sitting on their fat arses. I'd like to believe that is by choice but I expect it is simply their habit. Reply With Quote

  • Oct 18, 2020 | 10:50 13 Ya let’s all defund police until , ohhh you need police intervention.... lol . It’s the same b/s in the US .
I can’t believe how radical those liberal voters are out east .. hola , crazy bunch they are Reply With Quote

    https://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/publicatio...-1999-eng.html

Mi’kmaq fishers won at the Supreme Court. But they're still fighting for their livelihoods.

Cut traps. Threats of violence. Twenty-one years after a landmark ruling, the fight over treaty rights in Nova Scotia rages on.

  • Oct 19, 2020 | 07:23 19 You know you are incompetent when.....

NDP, Liberal cabinet ministers call for emergency debate over mounting N.S. fishery dispute

There comes a time when you have to put on the big boy pants and make decisions....

The federal government has been dogging this file for years and the outcome of their incompetence is inexcusable destruction of property and harm to others...

All they will do by having an emergency debate is talk for hours and nothing will get resolved ....

I think this irritates me because the same shit will eventually happen in agriculture....maybe not today or tomorrow but in the future people will get pissed off enough to have the same results....

To date most guys are just checking out with a good payday from the capital gain....the guys that are trying to pay for high priced land and equipment with 1970s prices are going to hit a wall....and it won't be pretty.

Or will the fall back on the same excuse to blame harper

Oct 19, 2020 | 07:52 20 The federal government has spent $500 million setting up the Mi’kmaw to harvest lobster but they are not subject to the restrictions of the commercial fisheries. Imagine if you have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in a fishing boat that you can only use on a few days a year and you have to sit and watch your competition fishing in boats subsidized by the federal government fishing whenever they want. No easy answer, it will be interesting to see how Justin Trudeau virtue signals his way through this. Reply With Quote
