    Some leader he will be....

For western Canada he just put the boots back on the neck....

It's federal jurisdiction to say in the nation's best interest it's going to be put in...

I read the article it appears to me Premier Legault is the one who said there will be no pipeline. O’Toole made the case for unity issues and federal jurisdiction over projects like pipelines but came away believing the pipeline cannot be built. I don’t think he is siding with Quebec although one could argue that because Alberta wants a pipeline and Quebec does not and that no pipeline is going forward that he is siding with Quebec. You could also argue he is just acknowledging the present political reality in Quebec. From my point of view the present political reality is that western Canada will never get a fair deal as part of Canada, enough said.

Which refineries in eastern Canada are set up to handle lower quality tar sands oil?

So what are you surprised about? Do you think that after Legault declares that as long as he is in office that there will be no energy east that a visit by a Federal opposition leader would suddenly change things?

O'toole along with many other politicians just want their gold plated pensions.....the rest doesn't matter...

I could name more but you guys get the point...they do as little as they can and ignore any real issue...

Add Peter MacKay to the list ...has a big debt for his leadership run and wants back in to politics....taxpayer money to help him out....leech....he submarines everyone....now wants the party to bail him out....hey Petee go to a bank and get a loan and a real job.

This was a non starter so I am surprised Otool even raised it.

Anyway, we dont need energy east, TMX will supply Irving by tanker if we have to. Better than nothing.

The Northwest Passage just has to have a bit more ice to melt, and it will shave 1000s of miles of travel for tankers from the west coast to Irving. It's our future prosperity if we can stop China from claiming it.

Which eastern refinery could not be upgraded to handle heavy oil?

Kenny has disappointed on a lot of fronts actually, a lot of bark but no bite. O’toole was his choice too so not sure what is going on. Hopefully just politicking from an opposition leader who can’t do much at this point.

They might be interested if they can get WCS at a Consistent discount so that they can pay for the upgrades. Has any company suggested they are willing to do it? The plan was untill the US production soared to ship it to gulf coast refineries that use lower quality Venezuelan oil similar to WCS. But that fell apart in the fracking revolution and Trumps inability to get Keystone built.

Using the NW passage comes with a big risks and a big liability. Who is going to spend the billions to clean up a spill in the arctic? Which oil and shipping companies Want that bill?
