Got the triple mix baled yesterday. it turned out better than I thought it might after an unusually cold spring. Sowed in later April, had -8 for a couple of nights 1st week of May.
Had this chap show up while I was cutting, likely hunting mice.

Oats, peas and barley it is. The usual way around here is to bale it about 24 hours after cutting, and then wrapping it. Highly palatable that way.
The cows certainly do like it if it's not left to get too mature before cutting it. The weather was cooperative this year and I think we got it a the right stage. One year it rained when it was time to cut and the old girls rooted through it to eat the heads , and peas but refused to eat the stems which were pretty well straw.
I sure hope you get some drier weather. Fighting to get stuff done on time isn't much fun.
While the crops still look good here for the most part, we sure could use a couple of days of rain. Nothing in the forecast until end of next week though. Hitting 30C most days lately and forecast calls for more of the same, humidity in the 20s. Doesn't take long to whizzle stuff up in those conditions.
