May 24, 2020 | 09:53 1 Farmers need to tap into existing programs before new money flows. Including the 252 million dollar farce of which zero farmers got a penny, nor will get a penny.

I presume she’s talking agriinvest? CTV news and 650 news talk.

Anyway... Reply With Quote
May 24, 2020 | 10:29 2 Yup. 2 Billion sitting in Agri Invest. The problem is the farmers who need help probably have drained their agri invest and the $2 billion is in the hands of farmers who don't need it as much. Reply With Quote

  • May 24, 2020 | 11:37 3 So everyone who took CERB drained their savings and investments beforehand?

True but I've left mine waiting for a lower profit year to minimize the tax burden. Also does feel kinda nice knowing the money is there and can be accessed immediately when the shit hits the fan.

And if I had withdrawn a year ago and put in the markets, we both know I'd have less than I do now. Reply With Quote

Looks like opportunity knocking this year. I have been taking mine out slowly hoping there will be enough to make it through to retirement. With how crappy the weather has been here, taxes are the last thing to worry about. Reply With Quote
May 24, 2020 | 19:23 11 I take mine out every year and reinvest it. Lots are using it as a retirement fund and it is backfiring if you leave it there the gov wont think farmers need any help. Its not Agri-retire Reply With Quote

The simple answer is this is a total kick at Canadian Farmers by the most usless gov in Canadian History. Reply With Quote

  • May 25, 2020 | 06:10 14 Why worry everyone....while sitting in the tractor or sprayer cab which I find to be a prison lately .....I hear the DO MORE AG ads on the radio then I go to weather band and listen to the french version of the local conditions...

90 percent of the time when I turn to the weather I catch the french version...then I start daydreaming and miss the english version...

    Totally tuned out...

Do more ag ...being an agvocate....and ag more than ever.....are definitely helping farmers....sarcasm...

The general public worries about their debt with job losses and Trudeau moved quickly...

Farmers with issues in trade , poor 2019 harvest and the federal government ignored the problem and so did the farm groups ...they have no voice or influence..federally or provincially... Reply With Quote

Maybe you haven't noticed the billions handed out to the general population...

Students were afforded 9 billion...when in history was there ever a 9 billion dollar ad hoc to farmers....

Million dollar farms that operate on the smallest/slimest of margins and drive the economy....students with maybe 50 thousand in debt are being paid to watch Netflix....

Perspective helps once in a while...

Then look at the 250 billion Trudeau has spent.....farmers haven't seen 1 percent of that money for the one in 8 jobs ag related in this country.... Reply With Quote

  • May 25, 2020 | 12:44 18 I feel like I am going to be flamed but I almost can’t blame the government for thinking this way. I mean put yourself in their shoes. We’ve given away a chunk of money for free and farmers are letting it sit in a 2% interest account doing nothing. Assuming they are rational means they aren’t paying more than 2% on any other debt. How much trouble can they really be in? Reply With Quote

  • May 25, 2020 | 15:19 19 Here is the 2 Billion dollar question. How much of the money held in the agrinvest accounts are hheld by retired farmers who still get their rent as a grain ticket so that they can maintain an active farmer status, hence they have net eligible sales and quality for agrinvest. • SASKFARMER's Avatar May 25, 2020 | 15:25 20 Oh oh oh I can answer it.

Young are so fat in debt they will never see daylight.

They use there’s every year if they have enough for the match.

Middle years use it to pay down debt and move it.

Later in life it’s for retirement cash.

Now again let this sink in the feds gave actors more money than the total Ag got times three.

Yea we have no right to say Boboo is one stupid count. Reply With Quote
