Covid Farm Assistance a sham useless garbage

Apr 8, 2020 | 15:09 1 So checked into the assistance through FCC and its not for any old loans and
only available if you qualify individual basis. So our farm groups and our government
and opposition don't understand that blockades, crop out, poor grades, grain drying,
slow movement haven't been a problem? WTF is this loan for then? guys that don't need it
to buy more land or what? Reply With Quote

I figure FCC is acting on behalf of farmers that are wanting to keep growing larger and larger....if you are happy at the current farm and hit a rough patch .....they have buyers for your farm....

Otherwise you are shit out of luck.... Reply With Quote

  • Apr 8, 2020 | 15:50 6 FCC is a joke, has and always will be. Lend 50% of their values not FMV, charge lots of fees, charge higher interest rate, then the first sign you are having trouble...blacklist you....even when you pay them all back. Give you an umbrella when it’s sunny and take it away when you are getting rained on. Good partner....not.

Some people have had great success with them getting all kinds of forgiveness etc....not my experience. Reply With Quote

Apr 8, 2020 | 15:53 8 So just another b/s political grand stand that leaves us with nothing and yet hit with more carbon tax’s .....
    The real story
There will be lots when this is over.
Hopefully Air Canada ... a non essential entity, make good use of our money , I mean our kids money .. what about WestJet ????
    can’t eat an airplane ...

Oh and the kick in the ass for the truckers that are delivering all the essential good and services like food and medicine should be happy to pay the extra carbon tax’s .

Does anyone here ever contact their conservative MP to mention who they are suppose to represent??????

Seems farmers should have some negotiating strength and yet the conservatives just ignore their voters...

My experience...I have written a couple emails to my MP and a couple phone calls....

I get "....we are all in this together..."""" interesting we were not in it together when shit hit the fan last fall/.

As I watched my crop for the last 5 months....the average person only had to wait a couple weeks to start feeling the pain and the liberals mortgaged my kids future on a shitty bet of some of these businesses... Reply With Quote

  • Apr 8, 2020 | 16:42 11 I’m starting to believe that all the governments are not gonna learn a damn thing when this crisis is over. Same shit just a different day. The people like us that make real things to create our economy will continue to get shit on. Except I must say only the American farmers seem to get support. But for the most part everyone who produces a primary product gets shoved in the toilet when it comes to financial support when the chips are down. Reply With Quote

  • Apr 8, 2020 | 17:21 13 There is a 10% of gross salaries payroll deduction subsidy, it applies/reduces to the Fed/Prov/Terr income tax portion of payroll deductions not the CPP or EI portions, and payroll deductions need to be continued to be made but can be reduced by 10% of the gross salaries. Up to a maximum of $1375(per employee) over the three designated months. There is a maximum amount of $25,000 each business is allowed.

There is a 75% wage subsidy for up to 12 weeks that is being worked out, what will it look like and who qualifies? Will non arm's length salaries and self employed salaries qualify? This sounds like it's going to cost the Gov(taxpayer) alot of money.

The $40,000 gov-guaranteed small business interest free loan forgiving $10,000 if $30,000 is paid by Dec 31, 2022 if your business paid salaries greater than $50,000(max 1 million) in 2019.

Who knows what else is on the way....other than higher taxes to pay for all this "free" stuff.

I wonder if the student program didn't come because the $2000 a month instead of the E I program includes anyone over 15 that earned $5000 last year and hasn't worked for 4 week can send an aplication in.
They are trying to rubber stamp 3 million of them in the next 10 days.

Why even take a job if you can get 2 grand tax free for the next 4 months.

Party time. Lots of Grass, Booze Quads and Guns for $2000 a month and then just waste the rest! Reply With Quote

So true! I am glad that I am on my way out of this thankless unappreciative career. What would you expect from that two faced, weasel of a PM. I learnt a long time ago that politicians are not on a farmers side. The only one that really understood and helped was Grant Devine. I would like to wipe that smirk 😏 off of Justine’s face by telling him that there will be NO CROP seeded or beef produced this year! They would then find out how important agricultural really is. I know this will never happen but it is just a dream of mine. Reply With Quote

One of the better posts i have read here in years 👍👍.
Never more more evident than the punishing 50% increase in carbon tax on wealth created industries during a complete meltdown.the very people creating wealth and delivering supplies to the nation . It’s actually un***in believable what just happened here the past two weeks .

    Apr 8, 2020 | 22:22 22 From the website:

    COVID-19 support program
    Summary of current program details
To ensure producers, agribusinesses and food processors can remain focused on business-critical functions rather than worrying about how to access funds to keep operating through this challenging period, effective immediately, FCC has put in place:
    a deferral of principal and interest payments up to six months for existing loans;
or a deferral of principal payments up to 12 months
access to an additional credit line up to $500,000, secured by general security agreements or universal movable hypothec (Québec only)

It sounds like all 3 of these programs will lead to more debt? Reply With Quote
Apr 9, 2020 | 04:21 23 One loan payment extended 6 months only delays the problem. And that would have occurred anyway courts aren’t filing anything right now so everyone has 6 months at least.

The new funding is not interest free and can’t be used for your input bill etc that has to be paid now or no seeding for many. Banks and fcc are worried that the virus has devalued everything including land so unless there is backing to all farm lending institutions the new money is only for those buying out the ones that aren’t the favourite FCC customer?

And even if it was a good program fcc has no capacity at all to process all the business going their way Prior to seeding people working from home?

How long is it going to take to sort out with your bank and fcc who has the collateral? Fcc will be demanding you list how many Costco toilet paper rolls you have because they are going to want to have something of real value to back these loans.

The banks don’t want to help out because all the input loans overdue now have 18% interest charges going retroactive. You think fcc will take over that problem “ on a case by case situation”.
And figure that all out prior to seeding?

My point is workers get non repayable wages businesses getting 25% forgivable loans and we re getting more access Given up to our equity to keep going? Reply With Quote

Yeah , I think you are right on this one. There will be some operations , no matter what are who will be waiting in the wings for someones operation to fail , so they can offer to " help them out" in their time of need. It isn't fun being played like a pawn in a chess game. Reply With Quote
Apr 9, 2020 | 07:55 27 I think you guys are all correct in how you see the programs, but it's odd it came so so early into shutdown. Im gonna try to prevent this sounding like a "conspiracy theory". So one would have to ask why? Was there blood in ag before this occurred? Definitely. Name the last time govt was proactive on anything? Before it turned into a critical situation. What is different in this situation compared to previous farm crashes? Well we have Chinese and pension funds that are heavily invested in ag. The Chinese are currency sensitive and the pension fund, teachers, CPP, can't take a write down in land values and a commodity price hit without being forced out, tanking land values affecting FCC en mass. Those three will get protected by govt. Govt just used the cover of empty shelves to sell what they had to do anyhow. Doesn't matter the flag they wave they won't act proactively. Im guessing this is a racket between FCC, the pensions, and the Chinese investors that bought their citizenship. Nothing says this program was designed for western Canadians, why would they do that when nobody voted Liberal here. The other side of this is the meat processors and the McCain family. There's a lot of French fries not being eaten in restaurants and old Billy boy has some connections. Maybe the entire 5 billion is going to Maple Leaf and McCain? Which they'll forgive a hefty % after the fact. Never take a liar at face value. There's more going on than what we are told. It'll come out soon enough. Reply With Quote
