No doubt Grant Divine understood saskatchewan agriculture and was supportive since he was a part time farmer as well, but that didn't make him a great premier or a good money manager.

The last time Grant Divine was suggested as a nominee for the Conservative Party of Canada this is what happened:

"The Conservative Party of Canada has denied a nomination bid by former Saskatchewan premier Grant Devine.

"The national nominations committee, in consultation with the local nominations committee for Souris-Moose Mountain, has determined that Mr. Devine's name would not be entered in the contest for the Conservative party nomination for Souris-Moose Mountain," party official Tom Jarmyn said.

The party gave no specific reason for rejecting Mr. Devine.

Mr. Devine, who was premier from 1982 to 1991, was at the helm of the Tories during the biggest political scandal in Saskatchewan history.

Some 21 party members were charged after it was discovered that legislators and caucus workers illegally diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars from government allowances form 1987-1991. Sixteen were convicted of fraud and breach of trust."

He is persona non grata in most Conservative circles. He has baggage!

You fooling yourself if you think any taxes are being eliminated or going down percentage-wise.

Disposable income will basically be eliminated in the population. Watch for CRA to pull out its ultra-mega microscope when looking at taxes. Start combining border information with individual income and you could easily see them start targeting those with foreign assets. Socialists will be happy when government says anything over $40k in net income is extravagant and must be surrendered for the good of the motherland.
Agree. Even if you put God on the committee, none of these realities will change. Add to the list, people started out this journey in debt.

All the people mentioned on the committee will be just fine however.

I wouldn’t want either of those. I think Danielle Smith would be good.

Chuck, you are as usual off base. I’m not sure if you were born yet but for those that saw the 80’s in colour will have an appreciation for Devines legacy like the water retention projects fertilizer production oil upgrader for a few biggies. It was these forward looking projects that much of the debt was put towards. They have paid off in spades. Yes there were court cases, yes as with all governments there was waste. Premier Devine would be an excellent person to build or rebuild anything that’s left of this economy.

A War Time Production Board is a fine idea. You would have to find people who know how to Produce something however.
Those kinds of people insult too many others tho LoL.

I wouldn't let most of you guys make a grocery list let alone a list of who should be on an economic task force.

You forgot Donald Trump. Let him takeover. Many of you want that anyway! LOL

                          I can ignore Grant Devine's shortcomings....all things considered. ...

People ignore the shortcomings of priests and their baggage is far worse...

                          Just some perspective. .....

I agree, but her sniping at Kenney through all of this means I don’t think she works well with others. The people on this team would have to put politics aside and she doesn’t seem capable of that.

The one industry in Canada that will help restart the economy is agriculture ...farmers more specifically...

Don't need airlines...or lift kit shops or tattoo parlors....

Think about industries that are stable given the right environment to help grow the economy...

You just about have to go back to the beginnings of this nation...agriculture....railways....graincos .....and build from there..

                                Oil will return as well...
