I often wonder what percentage of socialist politicians actually believe what they are saying.

Some just see socialism as a way to get elected into a paycheck, but some are much more dangerous and actually walk the walk.

So we have to go carbon neutral because the planet is changing so fast that we can't possibly adapt, but we must adapt to instantaneous policy changes that will have even more disastrous effects. Does this about sum it up

I guess it comes down to this.
Real or not. Government's have to get ahead of the people. If general consensus believes this stuff, then the govt better have a solid game plan to get things done while keeping people on their side.
Case in point. Peter Lougheed warned of this in 07. Today we couldn't organize a three legged race. Absolutely no development of any kind. Any law that does pass is draconian. Cant you see this happening to agriculture?

I have always felt that farmers that back C02 taxes and climate change policy were a bit nieve in believing that they would never be dictated on what they could produce and what inputs they could use to produce it. Climate activists look at farmers as part of the problem not part of the solution.

Mallee, it isn't about the carbon at all. Its about the GMOs, herbicides, fertilizers and animal agriculture. CO2 is just the cover.

That why Bill gates owns major shares of companies developing lab grown meat. Eventually all animal ag will be outlawed, so will GMOs etc.

Once you give even an inch to the radical left they never stop.

That is why I will never give an inch on climate change. Because once you do, they will take it all the way and shut down everything they can.

If we were really worried about emissions nuke plants would be getting permitted by the 100s. Always look to the hypocrisy to find the real motives.

It was easy to get away from the bin police. Just drop out of the crop insurance program.

Impossible to get away from the quota police, but maybe not, if the criteria is not minute management of the farm by a cop in real time. Need details, mallee of Aus plan. Easy for a politician to gum a net zero C02 ideal. The 100,000 page plan to balance can fall apart should the metrics be off by mistake factors which it will. The yardsticks keep moving, and soon someone will say that zero isn't enough

I'm still willing to try a ration program that divides up what a country can emit before paying any carbon tax until that ration is reached...

but as a socialist, I have limits. Don't tell me I can't breathe without submitting a tax to government.

No details per say mate it was a speech outlining future stuff errr he’s gotta get in power first seem unlikely Australia swung to the right in last election and will probably take another two term for left to claw there way back if ever.

Despite similarities between Canada and Australia our voting intentions way different.
