    Carbon Tax Unconstitutional

Alberta wins one in court today. Guess it all has to be decided at the SCC but there are decisions on both sides now with equal for and against. Would like to see the courts squash this.

In SK it was as close to a tie as you can get. Agreed that this needs to get to the Supremes ASAP.

What did Ontario court say? I missed that.

What could possibly be unconstitutional about levying a tax at different rates depending on the province you live in?

I think it was 4-1 AB, 1-4 ON and 3-2 Sask, so very close.

So what happens if Alberta goes to the Supreme Court and wins? Trudeau has built his whole government around the necessity of the carbon tax. But everything he has done seems to be a failure. He has increased separatist sentiment in Quebec and Alberta. Oil investment has and is leaving Alberta in the tens of billions of dollars. And now the cornerstone of his environmental plan, the carbon tax, has a realistic chance of being found unconstitutional. His last few months have not been very productive!

He can still use the notwithstanding clause to force it. Canada is a ripe little dictatorship.

But but, today Rachel blamed the Tech pullout on not having a carbon tax.
                Don't you believe her?

We need a real leader soon

Somebody please tell President Trump that Alberta and Saskatchewan are for sale. I hope he is the only bidder. Canada could have a booming economy then also.

Doesn't it go the other way? Can't AB use the notwithstanding clause to opt out of carbon tax like QC used it on language laws?

The legal question put before the courts is whether the carbon tax imposed on Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario is constitutional, not whether the carbon tax is good or bad.

But I am not surprised the flat earth society doesn't understand the difference. We will see what the Supreme court says.

Firing and tarring and feathering judges because you don't agree with their decisions is what happens in leading countries like North Korea. Only extremists suggest such obviously backward ideas.

Do the judges in North Korea have to have the same views as the current regime in order to get appointed?

                          That's whats required here.

If Wikipedia is correct of the Current Supreme Court Justices, 5 were appointed by Harper, 3 by Trudeau, and 1 by Martin.

If they rule that the Carbon tax is constitutional you wont be able to use the Liberal judges argument.

But details like that don't seem to matter to the hyper partisans.

How much were the emissions reduced chuck? What does the science say?

If that's the slam dunk solution we should be seeing some results by now. Or do we have to wait until the GDP gets slammed. Well that's coming so we should see those emissions plummeting in Q2.

If they can develop a theory of climate change, then why cant they develop a predictive theory to counter it. Just another inconvenient fact in the life of a climate radical.

Canada would be uninhabitable without FF. Full stop. Carbon tax is a tax on our survival.
