    Chickpeas-production-markets

Have these questions: 1. Can the marketplace absorb the anticipated acreage for 99 of 250,000 acres from 100,000 in 98. 2.How do yields compare to Eston Lentils. 3.Did anyone do any trial strips using Pursuit.

The question about the potential for overproduction of chickpea is legitimate. I don't think that anyone is sure what sort of buffer capacity the market has to take up such a big increase in production. Yields in southern Alberta for chickpea were 10-30 bu/ac under dryland conditions. It is difficult to compare to lentils due to the influence of rainfall. I have seen no official data regarding Pursuit, but I have heard through several sources that basagran, odyssey, pursuit, 2,4-DB and MCPA have caused severe injury in plots.
