    Oil is off 20 percent

So how is it that gas and diesel isn't coming down?

The majority of gas and diesel in this part of the world is made from oil discounted from the current world price of $49 a barrel....a guess would put WCS at $35 a barrel...

Just wondering why grain markets crash instantly while oil has as well but gas and diesel stay at lofty prices...

We should be at 75 cent diesel and gas....

They could lay off half the staff at any coop and still have too many people.. at least around here....

The crude oil component of the price of a liter of retail gas is likely less than half.
Refining, distribution and marketing and taxes never go down

But isn't the biggest portion of all of those costs( except taxes) the energy component, directly, or indirectly?

The co-ops need no marketing ...they are in a captive market.....

Reminds me of years ago when Gainers Meats employees went on strike. Ol’ Peter Puck shut the plant down and told them to go to hell. Same as excel meats in Moose Jaw. Workers were striking, plant needed a bunch of upgrades etc. Nilssons mothballed it rather than put up with the bs.

The moose Jaw plant needed upgrades but they were trying to get rid of the union because of wages ...Sadly what was missed is that area has very competitive wages because of mines, graincos, fertilizer plants and more potash that was coming on stream....they would have had to boost salaries union or not...

What the government did was reduce the ability to continue to slaughter something here for the good of the ranching industry and is now in talks to up their investment in ILOs....which eventually means a slaughterhouse.

They set the entire ranching industry back and consolidated it which in the long run will reduce young producers the ability to enter...
