farmaholic's Avatar Aug 10, 2019 | 07:03 1 Holy crap did it rain here last night and overnight. 1.3 inches. And looks like there could be a bit more on the way. Peas will be going down, started combining them at 3ish yesterday afternoon. They will probably be hard to straight cut now...mud!. We've been spoiled with easy harvesting peas for a while.

The rain will probably plump up wheat and help the canola, mustard and flax a bit too.

Putting a bit of moisture in the soil bank for next year. Reply With Quote
farmaholic's Avatar Aug 10, 2019 | 07:19 2 My parents in town, 4 miles away, told me 2.5 inches, I might have to go in and check myself! Reply With Quote

Aug 10, 2019 | 07:26 3 Got more rain here (most as snow) at harvest last year than during growing season. That is a gift that will keep on giving. Be thankful for dry weather. Reply With Quote

Aug 10, 2019 | 10:20 6 Zero here either. Overcast though so hopefully it comes. Soon be needing to drill holes for step in fence posts it's getting so hard. Reply With Quote
Aug 10, 2019 | 10:29 7 What’s wrong with a good rain after harvest? Lentils are in the bin and 1.4 inches at one farm, 1.65 at the other. Reply With Quote
Aug 10, 2019 | 11:00 8 Luckily no rain here and any rain now would only cause grief. Sounds like a cold night ahead so fingers crossed it stays above freezing! Reply With Quote

Your lentils are done, may I ask what they yielded having them done this early?
Where are you at? Reply With Quote

Bigzee,
I was done my eston type lentils four days sooner last year. Lots are ready here, after I got mine done Friday we moved to the neighbours until it rained his are ready as well. My yield is a bit less than last year overall but varied field to field depending on soil type, lighter soil yielded more here this year as the heavy stuffered from wet feet late June. Do you have cows? Seeding dates are optional but are influenced by corrals, at least they were in my three decades with bovines. Think I’m half hour north of you. Reply With Quote
Aug 11, 2019 | 16:37 14 Rains going through the rain trough west of here again today . Reply With Quote

Aug 11, 2019 | 18:06 16 Environment Canada says 70% chance of showers tomorrow. Western SK some storms this evening. Where you get rain, eh? Reply With Quote
farmaholic's Avatar Aug 11, 2019 | 22:02 17 We got about 9 hours of combining in today before the next chance of rain tonight and tomorrow. Kinda surprised it was good to go. Made a nice dent in them.

Desiccated a week ago Saturday night. Inch and a three tenths rain last Friday night Saturday after midnight. Combine tires a bit muddy. Ground still black/moist in canopy but drier wherever we did some combining last Friday.

Looks like another heavy duty one on the way. Kinda heading in our direction. Looks broad and "deep".
Doesn't look like it's going to lose steam either, maybe intensify.

Wish the peas were off. Might be another night laying awake in bed listening to the rain on the roof.

Mantra...."wouldn't it be nice if it didn't matter?" Reply With Quote

Aug 12, 2019 | 01:06 22 This time the Regina Block will handle it. It’s melting and breaking up as it comes closer. 🍀 Reply With Quote
Aug 12, 2019 | 05:51 23 Coming north but circling west around us .... but that’s normal.
We will miss 90% or more of it again
Just like the start of “rain season” Reply With Quote
farmaholic's Avatar Aug 12, 2019 | 06:29 24 The rain comes in heavy waves here. Just like the radar is showing....those pink tentacles.

But ya, look at that rotation. Wonder if we'll get hit with the wrap around yet.

SASKFARMER's Avatar Aug 12, 2019 | 06:49 25 It Just crossed the valley nothing really to see I don't imagine it will move that far north. Maybe the wrap-around will go north. Right now Regina heavy rain. Reply With Quote
SASKFARMER's Avatar Aug 12, 2019 | 06:58 26 Good thing the liberals finally fixed the Bethune radar. I love the new pie system.

farmaholic's Avatar Aug 12, 2019 | 07:04 27 LMFAO.... I was just going to post that same image!

Looks like they took out the radar and installed it at 180° to what it was, that 45° gap in coverage was west of the radar station earlier this season.....priceless. Reply With Quote
Aug 12, 2019 | 07:36 28 Just checked Regina gauge - right at 1 inch now. Reply With Quote
SASKFARMER's Avatar Aug 12, 2019 | 07:43 29 My station in Regina has 1 in just now and still coming down. New changes to back yard do work and water is going away. land south of town is 2/10 so far and yard 1/10 and west of us 1/2 in. The line is moving NW and wrapping around I think. Reply With Quote
