Not too crazy about AGT getting 100s of millions to fix their rail line.....

Or the fact that ILTA will use CGC funds to pay out farmers...that's farmers buying their own grain for the CGCs incompetence...

And can you name one farmer that ever sent a cheque back from the government when there was an ad hoc payment....or point me in the direction of a 4th generation family farm that hasn't received a payment in the past?

This thread proves why farmers get SFA to make their farms better and why most are now saying "**** it"...

Do you think graincos measure ***** when they collectively go to government for help....

And Saskatchewan's Ag minister is an idiot....I said that before they chose him.... a perfect example of an empty resume to a wannabe politician. ...and the Premier isn't much better....
If you want to see a real dollar savings to the people of Saskatchewan , CUT THE RMS to half of what they are now! Here where I live we have 9 townships , and a reeve and contract grader operator running the entire show. Total waste of ratepayer $$$$

Yes, the poor farmers need a handout. 58% good to excellent crops, how will they ever survive?

You cant control some things like phone and power, but I look around me and on the pics posted on here, and I marvel at the complaining that happens while the millions in un needed machinery doodle around the fields!

I hated the cwb, still do, and yes, I sold to them, because I HAD to. I dont know where you got some of your ideas on me and hog barns and the cwb from? I guess if you want the cwb back, join the friends of the cwb and go hard!

        Funny people some farmers.

I quit growing canola. That was one of my cost cutting measures and so full disclosure,
I saw the train wreck coming, and jumped off the train.

What happens when your new ventures hit a trade barrier or black swan event????

And you can't generate the required cost saving income to live on?

I am not being ignorant of your values or your vibrant stress free life or your path to it....but you may find yourself saying WTF after all your efforts ...then what?

And don't forget you are not competing against me...you are competing against people that are well subsided and that are still farming with hoes ...very little fuel...etc etc etc...

The problem with this discussion is that we are arguing against each other...perfect for politicians....not so good for the rest of us that have the blinders off watching other countries agriculture now kicking the shit out of us and we are gladly handing over our markets to them....

The former Soviet Union use to be a customer....now its a competitor ...they didn't get there by arguing like whats going on here....

Crop reporters are people that drive at 60mph....and never get out of their truck....or listen to what their neighbours say the night before the report is due....

Hahahahaha delivering pizza at night working for media of the Sask party ag department during the day. Quite an accomplishment we know you work there.

58% good which is bullshit but assume we work with the idiots numbers the other fact is 50% of that would be good if it was June 19 not July 19.
There is potentially a major major disaster in the works. Not to mention 6 dollar wheat, potentially 8.50 canola that I wonder what the line companies are getting for those? I don’t see canola oil going down and I see shipments to and out of other countries of those commodities ending up in China?????

Yup couldn't agree more....never understood why the consolidation wouldn't work except that the NDP suggested it and a couple terms as councillor explained it all...

People like saying they are on boards....they tack it on to their resume ....and they like the power trip. ...I didn't enjoy being a councillor....would do my diligence for road work ....only to have it ignored by senior geriatrics making decisions in the local bar. ...

There hasnt been an adhoc type payment in more than 10 yrs. Diddling with crop insurance and other programs are not the same.

Yes we should be cutting cost. Yes people shouldnt expand like fools and then cry. But none of this works without our instituions behind us. We cant go negotiate trade deals or hiccups.

I think 2010 because of the too wet there was a substantial handout ....that year would have ended many farms otherwise....

Too many guys said they wish they wouldn't have even bothered ...once they were done and then taking the shitkicking on twisted combine from being pulled out....

Give me a break with your anti socialists rhetoric. Farmers aren't on the govts tit like Bombardier and all these other pandered groups. We have the convergence of events out of our control, hostile china, fd up PM and a MAGA in the US which caught skippy napping or high. There should be a mechanism to address it and don't anybody say AgStability.
                    Well said
Grain Farmers are out billions right now as a direct result of this liberal government total mishandling of the tariffs and complete lack of respect of some of the largest trading partners in the world .
Hello. !!!!! We are an exporting country ffs !!!

Some of you not involved in grain farming can be so fukin ignorant and blind to the rest of us .
BTW the whole meat 🥩 industry including ranchers is under full attack as well here in Canada 🇨🇦.
We need to stand up for all our livelihoods here .
WE ARE ALL AT RISK here ... hello!!!!!!!

My venture is completely internal. There will be no trade barter with the lamb we sell. Black swan event? I guess a ewe or two may die? Just teasing you. I am under no illusion that my ventures may have problems, but I am pretty insulated from them as the model stands today.

I agree with getting nowhere arguing with each other, but I drive around and see the mini grain terminals, ahem, I mean rows of enormous hopper bins with multi million dollar machinery sitting out front on nearly paved yards, and my sympathy drops like a rock. Hard to get my head around subsidizing people’s choices you know?

I do have sympathy for those with real problems. I have had and continue to have struggles. I know the issues when things are tight. Not tight as in taking back a half million of fungicides, but tight as in how are we going to pay the power bill. That kind of tight is concerning and sad.

Sheepwheat, you have illustrated my payment example to a tee. You don't grow canola so none of this problem affects you, so you need no payment. I still get the feeling that you harbor some resentment towards larger operations. That's the problem with us farmers, we squabble among ourselves too much and that is why we as an industry will never have a unified voice to present these problems to whoever is in government. There are a lot of hard working farmers who through trade problems, weather issues and in some cases just plain bad luck are struggling to make ends meet. You are correct, don't go and buy the new boat or sled or pickup that is a start but when other industries have faced the same challenges and have been given some government help, why is it do you believe we as producers shouldn't be afforded the same treatment?

Whatever kind of support they can come up with I want funded by a tariff on Chinese and Indian products. Like president Trump, I do not support unilateral free trade as in they get to do what they want while our product face steep barriers going into their markets. Anyways there are no boats, Denali's etc around my yard. I do have a diesel pickup but it is a 2006 Dodge. Pretty reasonable on a farm.

This is not about who’s successful or not
                            That’s completely not the point.
If things don’t change quick it not about us at all regardless of farm size or what you drive ffs !! This is about protecting an industry for the next generation.... our kids that want to farm and the complete ignorance of this government...
Why some of you have to kick others in the shin constantly who have been successful at what they do for whatever multitude of reasons is bizarre ..

                              Good points.
Sheepwheat assumes we re all spending like fools, which is not the case and in many cases I d bet many cut more than sheep has ever cut and due to acres are likely as efficient or even more so. Just because you are small does not make you efficient.

Doesn’t even realize that he or she comments supports our argument. Self proclaimed master thrift farmer and yet cannot make a living growing grain? That’s what we re trying to fix!!!

Your correct master jade there is definately
some resentment jealousy at play there.

That is what will happen if an ad-hoc payment is given. Fert price up, canola seed up, machinery costs up - canola price down further.

                                Subsidies don't work.
Interesting how lefties on Agriville are promoting the heavily subsidized solar/wind power manufacturing industry selling equipment. To add to this they promote sun and wind power into regions that will never have a payback.
But Canada matching a USA MFP 1&2 payment for grain farmers during a trade war with China is bad.

Just an observation but it’s clear whose side certain people on this site are on.
