If it hits the shores of North America, it'll decimate feed consumption. Apparently there's a vaccine but it's live and China is not allowing any animals treated with it into the country yet. Let's hope the bird flu doesn't take off. Cold cycles bring disease with them, think of the dark ages and the plague.

My understanding on this from guys that seem to be plugged in on the issue. We are 8 years from a inoculation. Probably cant keep it out of Canada, will find a way here eventually. We are far better to mitigate this issue with our phytosanitary protocols than some other places. Its way worse in China than the Chinese let on, this is maybe part of the reason they don't want whole canola seed as they don't have a market for the meal and why they are still buying oil.

Im guessing it'll come in on a "pet" that gets rescued from Korea or something stupid like that. Still not sure why they allow animals on planes. You'll get a cavity search in airport security if there's $5 suspected of being smuggled but fido gets the all clear. Banning transportation of pets makes sense to me

China’s swine fever mess illustrates the two chinas. The “modern” industrial we see on tv and the other one which China doesn’t want the world to see; a communist hegemony which at its base level has little control of its people. I see parallels to the Soviet Union. Internal corruption and rampant black market activity. When there is no rule of law how and why would you want to be honest. In this day and age how many millions can the commis purge.
