we squeaked a 1/4" out of it , still cloudy
hope we get the "adequate" rain , like the market/weather/newspaper had said we were getting ,sure enough of themselves to drop canola bids
time to tell the market to go to hell, no more $10 canola leaving this farm . the market can go short
wheat yields are set and its not going to be pretty

I agree wheat yields are set on any wheat seeded in April already. Now, this week we are moving in on wheat seeded in may and with no rain yields are already set.

Canola won't cabbage this year will go straight to bolt.

Ah, farming we better order more chemical and snake oil.

Because the market knows. Yea JAck Shit.

Another dry morning on the east side of the Quills, crop will drop another couple notches today with 26deg and 50km winds. Guess we will go spray some more Decis on Canola and keep the 1 plant per square foot for being eaten. Congrats to those that hit the Rain lotto payout last night.

Is 2 tents considered the “payout”?

2 tenths doesn't even reach the seed or roots....

They will say this was a rain event but it wasn't. ..

Worst germination ever. Out in canola today and I have plants growing healthy and some seed not even germinated.

Like these seed companies have great powerful f&@kkng expensive seed.

Let’s add a seed tax because this shit is super.

We farmers are screwed every day and canola seed is tops.

                    Shit shut shit.

Plants on average one survived for 6in to 10 in.

                    It’s on Ft spacing.

Lots you can find that will germinate maybe now

Canola on good ground and flat coming up ok. Hill tops so so let’s just leave it at that. So couple crops in one on staging.

Went too deep with flax. Was the right thing to do, otherwise it would all be in dust.

Ironically had it rained, my emergence would have been worse due to deep seeding made deeper.

Oats coming ok, wheat decent. Lots in dust though. Rye was poking in 5 days. Seems as thought the theory that rye can germ in dry soil is accurate.

We are different here because while yes it is dry, crops are later than most areas and if they emerged there is piles of moisture down below, mud in fact. But rain is needed for hay and pasture immediately to be average, and grain will hang on until it started to really try to giver, then all bets are off. Zero rain in forecast now. Get ready, it’s coming. They have been wrong for months. If they stay wrong we are on the cusp of intense and widespread rain!

Will try to post pics later.

If it is dry here in the wet zone, you know it is dry as a bone everywhere else. One thing I notice is a near complete lack of weeds. Appears they too need a rain to germinate.

Hoping for you all who are in the desperate zones to catch a good solid rain.

Heavy rain west of here at Lloydminster or just south .
A crew I know on a pipeline said it’s neen raining all day ... snowing west of there now to.
It’s unbelievable how much rain goes through that area the past 4-5 years but we get nothing .

Seems SK is losing out on the all day rain/snow. No longer a drought.

They're saying around an inch in the Crossfield - Carstairs area. A bit more to the west, as per usual, but still a good shower on the east side of the highway. Hopefully it went east and east to the areas that really need it (And north so my cows can have more grass)
