    Grazing Corn

Has anyone had anything to do with grazing corn?

There was some work done by Gateway Research Organization in northern Alberta. I have some reports if you would like copies please email me at brenda.ralston@agric.gov.ab.ca and I will send you what I have. It appears to be a season by season crop in most areas of the province, heat units being the limiting factor.

I worked last summer with a number of producers who grew corn last summer. Some had 'wrecks' while others had tremendous yields (ie. 6.2 Dry Matter Tonnes / acre). The main problem was the cost. In order to compete with barley silage cost wise, you needed to get about 7 DM tonnes /acre of corn.
