April 1st "National Cancel your 2019 Canola Seed Day".

National Cancel your 2019 Canola Seed Day!

It looks to me like the continued Canola shit show will be studied and looked at in a few weeks and hopefully it will go away is what the liberal government will do.

Yep, they use the same playbook you think Canadians would wake up and Call out the fools once and for all.

It has nothing to do with science its all political for the F#$K Up Trudeau and company did with the Huawei lady.
Clock’s Ticking for Canadian Canola Farmers as Talks with China Continue
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has investigated multiple complaints from China about Canadian canola exports, including nine since January, Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau confirmed in a statement March 6.
Six days later, CBC reported Bibeau said the Canadian government is still waiting for China to prove its pathogen claims. At a gathering at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Bibeau said Canadian scientists have found zero evidence of the pests China reported, reports the Star Calgary.
Jim Everson, president of the Canola Council of Canada, said that while exports are stalled from time to time over inspections and potential pathogens, to his knowledge, this is the first time a company’s permit has been revoked.
That’s why some are calling this a political issue, not a scientific one, linking it to the Dec. 1 arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou, followed by the United States’ extradition request March 1.
Alberta canola farmer Tom Coppock said he sees the issue as “100 percent political and not at all scientific.” Though only one company has had its permit revoked, he said the uncertainty has reduced the price of Canadian canola across the country.
“Of course we’re being affected,” he said. “If they can revoke it from one, who’s to say they won’t revoke it from four or more?”

So all this shit show has me thinking.

For Canadian farmers, the greatest expense is Canola Seed. Any real farmer checks and sees what he pays for the technology that the Government gave the Companies full control till death due us farmers pass.

Lets hit the Companies hard and Cancel all Canola seed orders. They got a free ride until the world ends. The Gov of Canada gave these companies this. Gov destroyed our Canola market with incompetence so lets hit the main big player in the Nuts so to speak. Cash talks and if farmers say hey it's costing us a fortune you got a free ride and the gov of Canada screwed us with no compensation. We are taking our ball and going home.

THink about it how fast will this get the attention of the Companies and gov of Canada.

Right now its a delay delay talk talk and do nothing approach. Stupid Farmers will seed and life will go on profit for all except the farmers.

MAybe its time to say F#$K it. Time to say we're tired of getting screwed. Maybe its time to say the ones who feed the world need a little profit

Maybe its time to Cancel all our 2019 Canola seed and say ****IT> Cinderella is really the Retarded stepsister.

Someone will always see an opportunity in what you just said....

Most farmers are so ideology driven they would consider it a crime to be united....what you are talking about is communism ...is what some will say...leading other sheople not to follow a united lead of taking back our industry. ...

Meanwhile as input companies merge for more power without any government looking at the competition bureau that rubber stamps everyone's merger...we still think we can go it alone....

Wait until the WCWGA hears of this....you will be oscritrized. ...black balled....called an NDP and NFU supporter...

This story has been written, read and put back on the shelf...

Yes, I agree the story has been taken.

Stupid farmers can't ever unite even after RB auction is done with them.

        Yep might get ahead.

Well yes, all the companies joined and created a couple and now look at your rebate and costs and tell me who the real winner was.

        F#$King, not the FArmer.

Were at a crossroad its weeks away from seeding and seed costs on a crop not worth growing are huge.

If we take seed were just feeding the same Bullshit system created by Gov to pad the pockets of the Big Chemical companies. The Canola shit show was screwed up when farmers gave away control.

Well Canceling your Canola and saying let's grow another crop on April 1st I bet by April 2 the shit show with China would be settled. Warehouses full of unsold canola seed to flush down the drain at the real cost pennies.

Probably Trudeau and company would compensate them for F#K$ sakes.

Peas were ok to lose with incompetence but Canola is pissing me and others off.

So yea Cancel the Canola seed makes cents.

HAHAHAH grass you see how I did that.

Because the seed really is only worth pennies it's all about the profit and money. Maybe it should be a little about the farmer who has to do all the work and then when a government f#@K$s up we pay and pay again.

CANCEL THE SEED DAY April 1st.

It will never happen, everyone is addicted and dependant on canola.

Canola is 13% of our acres this year....13%! Sure wouldn't be a huge leap for me to go to zero! How can this farm make any money with so few canola acres? ....its net profit and rotation that matters...not gross profit and having the most costly limited supply of the newest variety....I am so over that game.

It won't happen. Snow canola snow, canola wheat canola....has been a successful rotation for some people.

And then there's Input Capital streaming contracts that have to be honored.

Yes, everyone makes a dollar off of us and we get the pennies. Now Trudeau F#$Ked up our market and not a peep.

Helps every one and we get screwed by his incompetence.

Put pressure on the seed companies and guess what the call will be made.

Zero seed sales and yes the call will be made.

I agree, no canola acres wont drop much. Farmers have their rotation and change happens slowly.
As far as the real expensive canola seed, there are cheaper varieties out there. Many places sell a "house" brand for way less than the L233p and the like. I have heard the seed grower in Manitoba who has been selling the off patent RR 1 soybeans now has off patent canola similar to a LL 5450. I'm told yields few bushels to grow this versus the newest variety. Anyone hear anything else?

You know What. Maybe the Canola "Industry" needs to show a little solidarity here and encourage the Government tothe arrive at a solution with China. Scrapping amoungst ourselves while China sits on the sidelines watching and laughing won't solve our market access problem.

I don't disagree that a little empathy from SeedCos that have been "on the take" for two decades would be nice to see. What form does that empathy come in? ....empty meaningless platitudes?

My farm size indictates I'm not a farmer. And how can any self respecting hobby farmer(not you hobbyfrmr) only seed 13% of his farm to canola?

I lost "farmer" status a long time ago...#gettingleftbehind.

I haven’t ordered canola seed for four years. What took you so long to come to the “we are being screwed” conclusion? And I had been breaking the 50 bushel an acre barrier long before it was sexy, but with 14 dollar an acre seed costs and 25 cent nitrogen. There are other things to grow to net more than canola, or at the very least that have far less risk than the crop that needs everything then at it to yield. Up to you to figure out for your area which crops those are.

This reliance on one crop has behooved me no end. When you hit a home run, it does fine, sure. But wait until you put 60 bushel inputs and get 6 bushel yields. That hurts. And opens ones eyeballs and arches ones eyebrows a bit.
