Is it because of very very late harvest and extremely poor quality grain and canola showing up like most of us warned about by mid September??
Not in any way dissing you 101 , but it is a fact several ships of hrws have been rejected due to quality. Visual grades are ok ish .. but falling numbers have crashed well below 300 from several places . The massive amount of grain that is being dried here plus the downgrading factors have fuked local shipping.
Between the two and extremely tough grains have delayed movement tremendously in the Northern half of Canada.
I am surprised there are not more ships waiting for crap they have no idea what they are getting .
The incredible negative effects of this falls harvest is just starting to rear its ugly head imo .

It certainly is an interesting dynamic that all of a sudden everyone is buying on falling numbers lol .. we had all the quality specs laid out today , but had to ask what was the protein after a 20 min conversation lol . It was like WTF ? lol
It graded a 2 , great colour considering the harvest but falling number from sample was 230 ... but the rechecked sample was very close to 300 .... so wtf is it ?
So it’s 14.8 pro .... the magic question is now , wtf does it grade ?
Is it a feed, or a #2 with decent protein?
Ahhh , the challenges , the entire Ag industry is fuked and they think we are endlessly made of money lol .
Seen people blaming farmers for carrying far too much debt on Agriville here lately.... chuck .... yup but when we have to put up with shit like this daily .... makes one ponder wtf we are doing . Then on a daily basis get slammed by the organic crowd and media .... there is the reason some of us say F you once in a while to a lot of outsiders here who have no clue .... and that includes every Ag industry person lurking here that has zero skin in the game ..
What is bewildering is I never ever seen a grain farmer go onto an organic site or livestock site and trash them or their way of business. I have read many sites and never seen that .
I still don’t understand the haters towards family grain farms . Most of us are just trying to raise a family no different than anybody else.
The mega farms will be a flash in the pan , 50% will survive, Huts will always be there , corporate grain farm will continue to fail every time .
Family farms will always fill the huge acreage gaps and deserve far more respect.
Anyway , far far off topic .... grade the wheat with respect ✊.

        cheers 🍻.

IMHO the small farms of the past allowed a lot of shit grain to be blended off by the big boys....Small farms were done on time, hauled in as per the quota....so their grain was put in a separate bin ....then they blended as required....

Some might call bullshit on me but the elevator in the 70s was walking distance....I remember putting the liners in boxcars.....although those were different times..

          way off topic....

The ship count is down but there have been issues at the ports....investigation of the railways started....plenty of rain....and maybe the vessels have been rerouted for the big soybean buy that may or may not be coming thru the PNW....

Or it could be some of Trudeau's teams better work in pissing off our markets....who is buying Canadian grain? who the **** knows ...transparency of sales reports might have helped?????

From Reuters they are even starting transparent reporting in Russia FFS....Is Canada more communist/socialist.and hiding info than the Russians when it comes to grain??????

            1/24/2019......

MOSCOW, Jan 24 (Reuters) - Russia's Agriculture Ministry has asked the country's ports to start supplying it with grain export data and export plans on a weekly basis, it said in a letter to managers of port terminals, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters.

The letter, first reported by RIA news agency on Thursday, has been interpreted by some market players as a move by the world's largest wheat exporter to step up controls over grain supplies due to a smaller crop.

The ministry says that is not the case. The weekly data from ports will help it to secure balanced usage of grain export infrastructure capacity as Russia aims to double grain exports in the future, it told Reuters.

Explaining the letter, the ministry said it needed up-to-date information for monitoring actual and estimating future grain exports.

The ministry does not expect any shortfall in grain export capacity in the near future as ports are currently able to handle up to 50 million tonnes of grain per season
