Who is EWG? Founder Ken Cook according to Wiki.

Cook has been named as one of Washington's Top Lobbyists by*The Hill*and*The Huffington Post.[1][2]*He has made multiple appearances on*The News Hour With Jim Lehrer, CBS's*60 Minutes,*National Public Radio, and the evening newscasts of*ABC,*NBC,*CBS, and*CNN*among other programs.[3]

Cook started the*Environmental Working Group*in 1993, and since its inception they have provided research geared to reforming agriculture policy, advancing conservation techniques and environmental protection. At the onset of debate over the 1995 Farm Bill, the EWG compiled information on who received the money set aside for conservation efforts. The data sets "sift[ed] through a complex web of corporations, partnerships and other business entities," which allowed the USDA to assign specific dollar amounts to the individuals behind the businesses.[4]

In the 1990s, EWG’s research was a major factor in the passage of the landmark pesticide reform law, the*Food Quality Protection Act. EWG was among the first to draw attention to the health threat posed by the weed-killer atrazine and conducted the first extensive tests for the chemical in tap water in 29 Midwest cities. In the last several years Cook and EWG have been in the forefront of national and state campaigns to require the labeling of foods that contain genetically engineered ingredients.

I though you couldn't spray glyphosate on milling oats. Or is this report old , the Pic is dated 2006

No it won’t. Richardson’s /Can Oat , whomever still buy desiccated oats. Only Grain Millers rejects glyphosate pre harvest oats.

trouble is that too many farmers are spraying gly too early and using it to kill the crop not weeds only. Ive been told that from millers that used at correct staging gly is not a problem. Let the crop rippen a little guys

Very poor practices by a few are going to ruin it for everyone. We don’t grow pats but guys that do around here don’t normally ever spray gly on oats . It’s unfortunate that some guys are doing it and obviously too early if that study is legit .

You are using too extreme an argument, Mbgrower.

No one is pouring anything on oatmeal. You should be talking parts per million, or parts per billion, and consider whether that is sfa in the big scheme of life compared to, as an example, the seconds after waking up from sleep which does kill people. Would you suggest that no one should go to sleep?

Some oat growers have no choice. Some farmers, also, wreck machines in harvesting crops in lousy conditions because they believe, or have no choice. If you have to have oatmeal that wasn't ppm'ed, then protect yourself with choice. It's your dime. If enough do it, oat growers will get the message.

A couple years ago at the Oat growers annual meeting they had a presentation from a miller about crop staging and gly spraying and its effect on the milled oat product. Pretty damming in regards to oats sprayed too early. The product produced was substandard, like the oats had went through a frost. The Yorkton miller issue was product quality not a concern with residues from my understanding

Many claims on here on how we farmers feed the world. Just a reminder that we are producing food not industrial commodities. I see lots of abuse and over use of Roundup.

agreed, but dumping roundup on your oatmeal ?? pretty powerful statement . pretty sure you will be "quoted" on that foolish statement. remember it is just a war of words , and none of it has to be true or factual , just dramatic like yours was ? some things are better left unsaid.
