It is the only vegetable in which leaves, pods and flowers are packed with nutrients for both humans and animals. Almost every part of the plant is of food value. The leaves are eaten as a green salad and are used in vegetable curry. Seed 38-40 percent non-drying oil is known as ben oil, which is used for lubricating clocks. The oil is clear, sweet and odorless, it is never stale and therefore used in the manufacture of perfumes. This is the only crop that is useful for humans, animals and machines and is also used for perfume. moringa is one of the rare horticultural crops that starts growing within six months of planting, and lasts for eight to nine years.
