new varieties , camden oats and titanium wheat

we grew Camden oats side by side with morgan , all things equal on the same quarter. disappointing because Morgan's yielded 20 bpa over the Camden . Morgan's were 44 # /bu , not sure about Camden yet ? Camden stood much better . seems like all these new varieties aren't helping farmer a lot .
I commented earlier on titanium wheat . we have sold some of it now and it was #2 for fus (.6%) and the unity was #1 (.2 % fus ) the unity outyielded the titanium by about 5-10 bpa . the titanium stood much better , px15.5 in titanium , 14 px in unity . once again side by side all things equal . titanium was about a week earlier . anyone else grow these varieties? interested in your comments ? hard to grow either one of these next year ? too bad they are phasing out unity before having a good midge tolerant replacement ?.Even with the extra px in titanium we are still coming up about $35-40/ac short compared to unity

Talked to 2 fellows about titanium.
    One claims 55 to 60.15.5 pro.with 80 lbs.of n.applied.

Next guy put 70 n.and got 14.5 pro..
    Both say #1 wheat.

    Neither sprayed for fuzz.
Better than our utmost.at 46.#3 and feed.

We need better data. All varieties need to be compared head to head: year to year. Plot by plot.
The tests need to be standardized, and include more rigorous disease results. The plots in strategic locations, and record all climatic conditions that affected production in the location. All data is available.

To these tests we need to add: seed quality & functionality: testing necessary to support the commericali application of the variety.

With UPOV91 we will pay more for seed, we need to insure that standardized data supports the reasons to invest in that variety. Producer levy and check off should invest in better data first and foremost, as we all have had the experience of better than in the book being worse than in the field.
