    ASRG website worth a look

Found this posting by ASRG on his website. Really worth the read.
Bill 2 Passes.....What Have We Done? Thanks asrg for not letting this issue die as government would like it just disappear.

Bill 2 Passes……What Have We Done?

We take great pride in being a democracy. It has been a long road in the history of man to come to the system we have today.

Our modern system really started in Britain with the Magna Carta. This was an extremely important event in that it set out the principle that men would be ruled by “the rule of law”, and not by the whims of a King. Prior to the Magna Carta the King could take away, or bestow, life, liberty, and property however he saw fit!

The basic principle of the Magna Carta was no man would be deprived of his life, his liberty, or his property without due process of law. This is the foundation of the “rule of law”. Due process of law is composed of a notice, a hearing, and a judgement by one’s peers. Without due process we are not ruled by the “rule of law”!

Democracy without the “rule of law”, is little better than the rule by a single tyrant……in fact it is rule by a tyrant of the majority or mob rule! The best analogy of a majority without the “rule of law” would be two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner!

Bill 2, the Responsible Energy Development Act, takes away our access to the “rule of law”. No longer do we have the right to challenge decisions made by our “majority tyrants” through the due process of law……it’s written right into this bill…….we have no access to the courts!

This very “irresponsible” bill is being touted by the wolves as being good for us, the sheep! Minister Ken Hughes should be ashamed of what he is doing, Alison Redford should be ashamed of what she is doing…….both should know better! They both know they are taking away the fundamental rights that our forebears for generations fought and died for!

The general population accepts this utter violation of the “rule of law”, little realizing that a great principle has been breached and that eventually they too will be affected. Today the tyrant takes away my rights…..tomorrow it will be your turn!

I do not know why people don’t understand? Perhaps it is because the population has become “dumbed down”? Perhaps it is because the education system has failed to teach, or perverted, the principles our system is based on? Perhaps we have become so degenerated that we desire to go back into slavery to a tyrant? Maybe people don’t desire to be free?

Bill 2, and the authors of Bill 2, wrote this legislation out of greed. They wanted to have free access to others property without paying a fair price for it. It is my belief they have made a grave error in judgement, through their blind avarice, never realizing that they have set a precedent where their own property and rights can be eliminated!

Is this where we want to be? A society where the so called "Representatives of the majority" can be bought by the highest bidder? Where the money slipped under the table buys you the right to take other peoples property? How long will it take until people say NO!

    Will that day come?

It has happened before…..and it will happen again. Man’s long history has shown again and again, that sooner or later the people will get tired of being treated like sheep! Eventually they rise up and slay the tyrant! It is usually bloody and incredibly destructive!

That is the road we have started down.

We are a little disappointed with the reaction from farmers and ranchers to bill 2 (Responsible Energy Development Act).
Apparently Keith Wilson got a good reaction in southern Alberta when he did a presentation at the Medicine Hat Stockyards meeting.
We made a decision to let it "cook" for awhile.....unfortunately it sometimes takes some times for farmers and ranchers to get their minds around these really bad land grabs!
Looking forward to the spring session of the legislature when the Surface Rights Act will be amended....not good at all for farmers and ranchers......but hopefully it will be a wake up call!
It might not be......it might take the actual results of all these crappy bills to wake people up....like when the oil company informs you your annual rent on the lease out in the back forty is being cut!
.....then the shit will hit the fan!

The grass routes are quietly educating and picking up steam. Driving up to a mountain that needs moving requires a step back and a plan. Those things take a little time especially when there are several ongoing other things that need attention.

Per you got that right. There has been more come down in the last 2 years that is impacting landowner rights than you can shake a stick at. Bill 19,24,36,50,2,202 all well designed and well timed which purposely thought out to overwhelm the landowners. The shit pile may be getting to high to climb but taking time is something we do not have. Time to get the shit pile out of the corral and start with a clean slate.

You forgot the big one that came on the heels of ALSA called The Plan For Parks. (not a bill but a directional report) I am seeing some education happening on facebook as a neighbor is obviously reading up on this stuff. Our circle of education is growing for sure.

Thanks per . I can't imagine how I could of forgot. The list could be expanded even further ie pipeline review , open season on water for hydro fracking, opening of the Alta. Surface Rights Act. Landowners just don't have the resources to tackle everything being thrown at us in such a short time span. Time all the landowners groups start talking and quite trying to take on all the government bills and proposals and split up the work load.I have made up mind to join the Alberta Surface Rights Group, don't know just how much I can contribute.

When we formed the group in 2004, the general idea was educating landowners on leases and right of ways.
              What a shock awaited us!
With the election of Stelmach everything went off the rails! During the Stelmach government it was one assault after another! Real basic stuff....the rule of law, elimination of our basic rights and freedoms.....everyday another outrage!....I think it would be safe to say.....we never believed the government of Alberta would go to war against the farmers and ranchers of this province!
When Stelmach quit, we had great hopes that a new premier would see the follies of his ways.....we had a lot of hope Alison Redford would do the right thing?
Obviously she hasn't, and in fact is much worse than Stelmach ever dreamed of being!
It is time for all of us to realize this evil "Alison Redford" has an agenda? That agenda is to abolish private property rights! This UN lawyer fully believes and backs the UN Agenda 21.....designed to take our property! We need her, and her ilk, gone!
