pasture insurance

Today I received word from AFSC that the pasture insurance program has been 'suspended'. This means that all us Alberta ranchers are left with no means of insuring our pasture. The old pasture program had plenty of limitations but some kind of insurance coverage is a must. How can AFSC decide to discontinue a program and there is no note of such a change in the media. Our pasture is just as valuable to a rancher as is his hayland that he hays for winter feed. Any one else with concerns about the quietness of this decision?????

Yes, I agree. I did however hear a while back that the pasture component was going to be dropped. I don't recall any reason(s) given, and they certainly have been rather hush-hush about it!
