    Technical Use Agreements

    I am looking into some of the new genetically modified seed. Is it true that there is a technical fee charged to use these products? If so what does it do and approx. how expensive are these fees.

    There is a technical use agreement (TUA)only on Roundup Ready varieties and it amounts to $15/acre. The TUA has two main purposes: to provide a return to Monsanto for their research investment in developing the Roundup Ready gene; and to prevent the propagation of common and illegal seed which skirts the $15/acre.
